DIY FACE MASK | COMPRESSED FACE MASK FOR ANTI-AGING

hey guys welcome back to today's video and thanks for choosing my video to watch out of these thousands of options in today's skincare video we are going to be trying a really unique product is a beauty product that has been squished to load the size of a nickel guys it is a compressed face mask today's product is by Beauty bits australia and it comes with 25 compressed sheet mask per pack and before we go any further if you're new to my channel guys don't forget to subscribe down below it really helped me out and don't forget to hit that Bell notification so you know every time I upload a new video no it's really interesting able to compress face mask other than the fact that is already compressed is that you get to add your own serum or toner to it doesn't come soak in anything already so you get to make your own personalized face mask and if you're anything like me you have about five or six serums on the go at once so before they expire this is a really great process to help get rid of them and use them up and the best part of this mask is totally the customizable aspect whether you have dry skin that you're looking to get rid of fine lines or wrinkles sun spots that you get to choose your own serum and build it and just relax alright guys so like I said these face masks come with 25 pieces and I got the sort of time there's two kinds there that i saw one was both of these are made with bamboo fibers but one of them contained charcoal and the others were just playing the bamboo so I got the assorted pack that comes with half charcoal half bamboo I don't always need that purification that charcoal give you so i thought some of them i would use for purification and some of them i would use just for hydration alright so as you can see they're all individually packed in their own little bubble which is super cool i'm assuming you just add the serum or lotion right into this little tub and it will swell up or grow like one of those little dinosaurs they add water to i'm so excited to try these out alright so the instructions are pretty simple it just says to remove the plastic backing and add your favorite moisturizer stamp or toner its unique straight in there and it will expand into a full-size mask leave on for 5 to 15 minutes remove and pat dry this is a side note i said that in my last face mask video at 10 to 15 minutes make sure you peel the mask off even if it's not fully dry because as soon as the mask starts to dry or becomes dry it pulls moisture back out of your skin totally counterproductive ok so because i don't have any fit or pimples right now I'm not going to the charcoal 1 i'm going to use just be plain white a bamboo mask I don't want to risk pulling out anything that you can already see I don't want to encourage any bit so white just moisture I think it will be alright let's jump right into this fun experiment with my top three skincare products so I'm going to totally customize my own face mask first i'm going to add Misha time revolution the first treatment essence this is not only going to help work as a toner for my skin but it's going to help moisturize at the same time as well I'm going to be adding another Misha product the time revolution night repair ampule if you haven't heard of this product before I will have it linked down below as well as all the products i'm talking about today but this is a Holy Grail item if you haven't seen my tent Korean skincare routine i'll link that down below as well this annual is full of my aside and tons of revitalizing and rejuvenating ingredients to help younger clear skin and certainly I'm going to be adding a drop of pure hyaluronic acid and this is by timeless guys it is super inexpensive it's just a pure basic hyaluronic acid as I'm sure you're all aware hyaluronic acid is an amazing skincare ingredient it can absorb thousands of times of its own weight in water when it gets absorbed into the skin that hangs onto that water and helps you really retain the moisture so with the combination of the three amazing ingredients that we are going to create my own perfect customizable sheet Basque now I'm going to change camera angles just what I add all of the ingredients to the pod so we can really see up close if the mask expand or swelled and so excited about only you right back here are going to our I just killed the top often be compressed to face mask we're going to go ahead and have a couple of drops of the first treatment instance first and see what happens we give them a nice good soaking whoa it's starting to grow already can advise you guys see this ok that was just a couple of drops and it totally started well already so now i'm going in with my mesa night repair ampule soak that in there doesn't seem to be getting any bigger going to add a bit more of the first treatment essence of the liquid if it goes keeps growing just going to go ahead and add a couple of drops of hyaluronic acid as well now we wait and see there was no this is a way better angle you guys can see that it has grown more than double in size but it looks like it stopped now just gonna let this sit for a couple more minutes and pop back on the other camera ok so it's been about five minutes as I last spoke to the mask as you can see it didn't grow any more than it did in those first few seconds even see disappearance has sent down to the bottom but there is a lot of the mask that looks like there's nothing in it so we'll open it up and take a look alright so my first impression right off the bat is that it is not merely saturated enough with product i thought that I used more than enough i used to both six drops altogether i don't know how many more drops you would want to use on one sheet mask but it definitely isn't wet it's not really sticking to the face in certain areas it definitely is sticky I can see this being great for if you have trouble area like it's just a patch here there that you could kind of cut this up and soak areas that you need to fix on your face anything like so you have some fine lines maybe blemishes on your forehead maybe you just want to target that area but if you plan on doing the whole face it is going to take a lot of product I'm actually so disappointed in this mask that i'm not even going to wait 10 minutes to take it off I'm going to take it off right now ok so in theory i totally get how this mask would work if you have more than enough skin care product to really soak that mask down I just want to go ahead and use tender off the serum that's almost a week's worth of serum on one mask but like i said if you have trouble areas or needed spa treatment this would be the perfect solution for you but for now i'm gonna stick to the pre-soaked sheet masks that already common dripping in serum that we're not wasting lay out the whole idea of having a compressed mask seems super cool and really easy and convenient especially for traveling but at this point I feel like you have to bring a gallon of serum along with you to fill it up so just like that was another face mask fail if you have any tips or tricks for compressed sheet masks and how to maximize them and leave them in the comments down below because I'm dying to know if you like this video don't forget to give it a thumbs up I've got some wicked cool videos coming up for you guys in the future I can't wait for you to see them but until then you can keep up with me on instagram snapchat and Twitter until next time guys see that that

Purple Pillow Unboxing Video – A Bed for your Head (Over 7,000 Views!!)

Hey everybody, it’s Jenna and Steven
and we are so excited today because we got a package in the mail. This is the box.
We’re going to go ahead and open this. We got this from Purple and babe, if you want to go ahead. Whoa! We are about ready to unwrap
our Purple Pillow. This is, honestly,
one of the first pillows I’ve ever seen with clear and concise
directions on what to do. So, step one is to unwrap. Step two is unroll. And step three is unwind. So, here’s the purple pillowcase. Okay. It appears that there is a sample of the purple material. Nice. And the nice thing about this package
is it has His and Hers. And you know what it says? What? It says, Stop! This pillow is not made
for pillow fights.

Oops. ‘Cause you’ll kill
someone with this. Here, Babe, here’s your purple… And it’s heavy. Okay, thanks. Okay, so… You ready?
Do you want to hold the bottom? Okay, here we go. Ah! Okay, sorry, I didn’t do
very good at my job. So, this is… Can you stretch
this with me? Oh. This is stretching
our relationship already Okay. Okay, and now for the grand moment.
Okay, so this is actually a white pillowcase that came with it. I did not know that was included. Go ahead, Babe, you can do it. There you go.
There you go. Nice. And here’s our Purple Pillow. Yeah, even the purple won’t mix in. Now this is really unique. Look at that. Babe, do you want to try this? Feel that? So, this is how you resuscitate a pillow. Massage. Oh, is there a purple liner? No, I read about this. So, this is something
where you can pump the pillow up. I don’t know if this is
like an air mattress. Can you look at…
oh, you blow that up.

Whoa. That is weird.
That is very cool. Okay, I’m going
to read the instructions. Okay, it holds it shape. One-year warranty. It’s an air booster. Inflate it to the desired height
that you want your pillow. Slide it into the cover
underneath your Purple. Zip the cover closed
and head to dreamland. So, you can make this as tall or… Babe, I think you’re better at blowing.

Okay. Oh, don’t forget step three, which is, to unwind. Ah. Okay, I think this is good. So, these are really different
than I thought. It’s actually cooled.
Can you feel that? Go like this and you can feel it,
like, it’s cooling. So, if you are sleeping hot
and you are sweaty at night. Babe, when I sleep next to you
it’s always hot. Okay. And it’s weird ‘cause
it has this backing on it. But anyway, I guess
we put it back in the cover. So, we’ll tell you more
what we think, but if you want to get the links
to check out these Purple Pillows, we’ll put it in the description
and you can check it out..

Clay Pottery Slab Building : Clay Hump Molding Finish Tips

Okay once we have let this piece set up to leather hard which means you can run your finger across it and not make much of an indention but it is still soft enough to put your fingernail through, we can take it out of the mold. First I am going to take a little stamp that I have carved which has my mark, the little pottery mark which is a little e and I am going to press it right into the bottom of one of the little feet. Now I am going to flip this over and take out the mold and you will see that we have got our nice cobblestone texture that we rolled into the clay a minute ago and now we can just address these edges and smooth them out and make them look finished and nice. Do that with your finger. Be sure to support the sides because this piece is still a little bit soft. You can use your sponge to help a little bit too. You don’t want any unfinished edges or pointedness you just want it to look good in the final piece.

So now that we have finished the edges off we have ourselves a nice little hump molded footed bowl. .

ever done and so if you’ve been searching and I think that that is as I searched that a lot of people do from for years to find that perfect pillow right am i right are hard to find a pillow that has everything you want this one I’m telling you is unbelievable it’s jumbo sized so it’s 20 by 28 inches so it’s 2 inches longer than a standard it has that gel fiber in it did you feel this it feels did I feel that I was changed as a person forever I may never be able to just sleep on another pillow and it’s just so funny because oh you’ve never had a down pillow uh-huh I mean down pillows are hundreds of dollars for a pillow yes this is the closest thing to a down pillow that I’ve ever felt and the difference is we used a hypoallergenic fill but with that gel fill its clustered like down yes really mimics so what down you don’t eat where you have the little sharp right edges doesn’t have staying power down doesn’t continually loft it really flattens exactly the difference is if you think about pillows this pillows that you can get in a bin you know the discount store and you know you touch up and it just goes Boing you know it’s like a solid surface right right and you kind of just the whole thing do you see how this one reacts how every anywhere you touch it it just springs right back yes it’s a really unbelievable pillow what’s great about this besides the fact that it’s machine washable and you know it doesn’t get any better than that when you lay your head and just look and look at the way that I’m pressing my arm down in perhaps we can show from the side if this is your head notice it’s conforming to my wrist so if that’s your neck and you want the pillow to conform to the back of your neck or however you’re laying on the pillow it does it so it’s not just your head up against the pillow and then your next kind of you know just left there exactly it really it really reacts you wherever the pressure is put on it so what I really like about it and you can see I mean it really has a different feel so during the night we move we move around and so whenever you move on this pillow it will move with you it won’t just kind of you know you won’t roll from side to side over like one big piece of fluff this really has that individualized comfort remember it’s 1000 thread count cover a hundred percent Egyptian cotton and Egyptian cotton is the finest cotton in the world it’s grown in the perfect region it’s harvested by hand these are mercerized and sketching finished just like you find on our finest sheets yes it is one of the highest and down alternatives we’ve ever done a pillow and you can machine wash it and remember it’s even jumbo size so it’s going to fit in your standard case but it’ll really fill it out you know so it’ll work in a queen case I know you’re in love with these two right he’s just so and and I slept a full eight hours but I’m suddenly so tired it is amazing what luxury um pillows are like a down comforter yeah it’s just it’s like it’s like losing yourself in a cloud it really is yeah and I love that we have this price point I love that these are $34.95 for two of them so you can get two for your bed maybe you want to get four for your bed because you love to surround yourself with multiple comfortable pillows but I also love that at this price paint at price point you can put these on your guest bed a lot of times our guest bed pillows are the hand-me-down pillows or there’s something that you picked up for 10 or 15 dollars that are not very comfortable luxury your guests every single night 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton that is the best that is the best of the best and they sold the majority of our quantity at $50 you’re getting them for 3495 needless to say our phone lines are busy on this one so if you need a new set of pillows whether you need a new set of pillows or not go ahead and get your backup set right now I was there 3495 and you know you I would get it at this price I would get a set to watch TV on the living room floor yeah I mean quality these are you know it’s not just the random stitch at the side these are completely rolled and piped on the edges they are again that luxury thread count I’m telling you trust us on this one oh when you in this home you will just be so happy because a good pillow is really hard to find pillows have a really short lifespan you should change them every two to three years this is a pillow that you could honestly spend $50 for one because think about it the cover itself 100% cotton that’s rare you don’t see that anymore in any foundation pieces but not just any cotton Egyptian cotton long staple fiber cotton a hundred percent a thousand thread count so in one little tiny square inch you have a thousand Egyptian cotton threads woven tightly together when you do wash this it’s going to hold up beautifully for you but it really is about that fill this is the down alternative that again it I it’s like a gel fiber so it really reacts to your body to the pressure point so when you lay down on it it’s going to really surround your your head and your neck and your shoulders it’s the perfect middle ground pillow if you’ve ever bought a down pillow you know when you lay down into it it stays flat that’s right or maybe you you’ve then said oh I need a firmer pillow so you get that and it’s too firm this has a little bit of firmness to it so when you lay down on it it supports your head your neck your back it just kind of molds around your body to give you that comfort and again you are wrapped in luxury with the 100% Egyptian cotton

Rolled Egg Kimbap (달걀말이 김밥, DalGyalMalI GimBap) | Aeri’s Kitchen

Hi, Aeri’s Kitchen friends, Picnic season is getting closer, so today, I will share a unique and delicious kimbap recipe using a rolled egg. It’s called… Compared to normal kimbap, this rolled egg kimbap needs less ingredients. You can replace the spam with these hot dogs, ham, or crab sticks. The key point for getting your rolled eggs perfectly round is to chop the spam, green onion, and carrot into tiny pieces. You can use a food processor to help with this too. Break the eggs and season them with some salt. Whisk them gently. Add all the chopped ingredients into the egg, and mix everything together. Now, pour half of the egg mixture into a preheated 8-inch nonstick pan with 1 Tbsp of cooking oil. Spread it out evenly and fry it on medium. Since the egg mixture has many chunks in it, it is better to roll the egg quickly before the egg starts to get cooked, or it will be difficult to get a nice shape.

After rolling up the egg, keep rolling it around to cook the whole surface evenly. It took about 3 minutes total to cook this rolled egg. The rolled egg may not be perfectly round. So, here is how to fix it. When the rolled egg is still hot, put the rolled egg on a bamboo mat for kimbap. Roll the egg with the bamboo mat to form it into a round shape.

Set it aside for a while. Meanwhile, make another rolled egg with the remaining egg mixture. A few minutes later, the rolled egg will be round like this. Now, let’s prepare the kimbap rice. Combine the cooked short grain rice, the salt, the sesame oil, and the sesame seeds. Mix everything together. Divide the rice mixture in half to make 2 kimbap rolls. We need 3 sheets of this dried laver for kimbap. Cut 1 sheet of the dried laver in half. Wrap the rolled egg with the half sheet of the dried laver. Then, place another sheet of dried laver on a bamboo mat.

Make sure that the shiny part of it goes to the bottom. Put half of the rice on the dried laver and spread it out evenly. Here, leave about an inch of space empty at the end. Put the rolled egg on the rice. Roll it up with the egg inside to make the kimbap. Squeeze the bamboo mat so that the kimbap will become firm. Use the same process for the other roll of kimbap. And then, slice the kimbap into bite-sized pieces before serving. You can eat this kimbap as it is, but to enjoy it even more, you can also serve it with yellow pickled radish. Make this delicious kimbap someday and go on a picnic with your loved ones. 🙂 Thank you for watching, see you next time Bye~~ ? .

How to make a paper umbrella that open and closes- Step by step process.

Hello Guys, welcome to Cool Ideas. In this video we will make a beautiful looking umbrella… ..that opens and closes. Let’s begin with a A4 sheet. Make it a square. Initial process is simple. Just fold the sheet form the sides. Now fold it in half. Now repeat for the other side. Now fold this sheet like this… ..to get this square shape. Now we will do 4 folds in this step. This is the first fold. Now what we will do here is, we open the fold… ..reverse the crease. ..and fold it again to reveal this triangular shape. Repeat the process for the other 3 sides. Now in the next step we will do 8 folds on 4 sides. These are the first 2 folds. Now open the fold, reverse the crease… …and reverse the fold. Open the fold, reverse the crease and reverse the fold. Previously we didn’t reverse the fold but here we will be reversing the fold itself. Again repeat the same process. We are gonna repeat the process for this side… …and also for this side. After all the folding is done our piece is ready. Now we will make a different colored piece which is 1/4th of the original.

How to get 1/4th of the original you may ask? Well this is the way to do it. Now we will make a red colored piece form this red paper. Similarly make a yellow piece and we have 3 pieces. Now we are going to cut these pieces. We will cut the yellow piece on the red line as shown. Now make another small cut on the top. Now we will make two angled cuts. for that, mark two lines as shown. and cut the piece. Finally our yellow piece is ready. Let’s make the white piece. Again we will cut on the ‘red line’ as shown. Now we are gonna make two extra cuts at the center so mark two lines at the center and other two at the bottom. cut the piece on the markings. Now its time for the red piece. I am not making the angled cuts so I will make a cut on the top. Now its time to fold the white piece. Start folding these edges.

You can see that the arrow like structure will pop upwards. Just repeat the process for the entire circle. After finishing this, start reversing the creases joining the white arrows. Now watch carefully. Pick an outward fold and hold it. Now start putting these edges inside the fold you are holding. As you can see I am holding these folds from the inside.

Now just repeat the process. Start putting the edges inside the folds. There is no need to hold all the folds. Once folding is done, you can start leaving the previous folds. See these small folds? Notice how they are folded. Because sometimes these little guys refuse to fold properly. If that is happening then just fold them one by one as shown.. and everything will be fine. Now its time to put together all the bits and piece. Apply glue on the yellow part. Now paste the white part inside. This should be done properly so take your time and do it slowly. Our umbrella is almost ready. Now we are left with the easy things. Take a wooden stick and paste a small piece of white paper on it. You can also use a chopstick or a bamboo stick which are easily available in the market. Insert the stick inside the umbrella. Now its time for another strip. This paper strip will glue the umbrella with the stick. As you can see it is looking very rough so paste a finishing strip. Now put the red colored piece over it. Also paste a strip on the lower portion of the stick.

Now its time to make the mechanism which makes this umbrella fold and unfold. I am using a glitter tape. I have pasted a small piece of paper on half of the glitter tape. Just paste the tape like this. Our umbrella is ready. As you can see it can fold and unfold. You can also apply glue and stick the top portion if you want… ..as I have done in this orange umbrella.

or you can leave it as I have done in the blue and the yellow one. So that’s it for today guys. If you enjoyed this video then give it a thumbs up. and subscribe for more creative videos. Thanks for watching. .

Brooklinen vs Parachute vs Snowe vs Boll & Branch – Which Are The Best Sheets 2019?

Sarah: Hey gang. It’s Sarah from Sleepopolis. Today, we’ll be comparing four sheet sets from some of the most popular bedding brands, Boll & Branch, Parachute, Snowe, and Brooklinen. Let’s take a look at each sheet set side-by-side so that you can decide which one is best for you. Sarah: First up, we’ve got the Classic Core Sheet Set from Brooklinen, just what I’ve got on the mattress right now. These sheets are made from 100 percent long-staple cotton, feature a percale weave, and a 270 thread count. Basically, they’re going to offer this really soft feel, super light, airy, and breathable, but also this crisp hotel bed feel. When I say crisp, I mean super crisp. Percale sheets already have a tendency to be more crisp than sateen sheets for example, but these are maybe the crispest percale sheets I’ve ever tested.

Like I said, they’re also light, airy, and breathable, so if you’re a sleeper who needs help staying cool during the night, or if you’re prone to night sweats, these are going to help keep you cool. Also, if you love a crisp set of sheets, these might be right up your alley. They also come in this very charming tote bag, which in my opinion is a bonus. Another bonus, in my opinion, is that the fitted sheet is labeled. You can breeze past that fitted sheet shuffling. You’ve got the short side labeled short, long side labeled long. I like little touches like that. Of all the sheet sets we’re looking at here, these are the least expensive, but certainly not sacrificing any quality. The price ranges from about 109 to 140 depending on which size you get, a great value. On to Boll & Branch. Right now on the mattress, I’ve got the brand’s most popular sheet set which is the Solid Hemmed Sheet Set. These sheets are made from 100 percent long-staple organic cotton, feature a 300 thread count, and a sateen weave. As compared to the percale-woven sheets we just saw from Brooklinen, the sateen weave is going to offer a feel that’s much less crisp and much more silky.

Additionally, these, like I said, are certified organic, and they’re also a product of Fair Trade manufacturing. That means that the farming partners of Boll & Branch must be paid a living wage. For you eco-friendly sleepers out there, if ethically sourced sheets is a big factor for you, you might be particularly compatible with these. They do offer a super smooth hand feel, like I said, very soft. They are a little bit steeper in price as compared to the Brooklinen sheets. They range from about 200 to 295. Again, they’re organic, they’re ethically sourced, they feel very durable, so they might just be worth the investment. Next up we’ve got the sateen set and the percale set from Snowe.

I’ve got the percale set on the bed right now, which is why the garment bag that it comes in looks a little thinner than the other one. Both sets are made from 100 percent long-staple Egyptian cotton, which is leaving them both feeling super soft and also very durable. The feel is going to differ depending on the weave. The sateen set is going to bring this silky smooth like we just saw with Boll & Branch. You saw the difference between percale and sateen. The sateen is going to offer a silkier smooth feel, lie a little bit heavier on the body, be a little bit thicker in weight. Then you’ve got the percale set which is very crisp, again, offering this crisp hotel bed feel, and also be more airy and breathable, helping you to keep a little bit cooler. The reason that these are a little bit different from some other sheet sets from some other brands I’ve tested is that while they do differ in feel, they really don’t differ in appearance.

That’s because Snowe, they say it’s a matter of personal preference, prefer their sheet sets to all be matte in appearance. Again, with the sateen set, you’re not going to get that luminous sheen that often comes with a sateen weave. Again, both very soft, both very durable. I would recommend the percale more to sleepers who need help staying cool and prefer that crisp feel. I’d recommend the sateen to those who maybe prefer their sheets to be a little bit heavier in weight, lie a little bit heavier on the body, but they both are very soft and very durable. Price ranges quite a bit from about 188 to 228. It really depends on the size you get and which sheet set you’re getting. Last but certainly not least are these sheet sets from Parachute. I’ve got the sateen set and the percale set. Similar to the percale and sateen sets we just saw from Snowe, these are made from 100 percent long-staple Egyptian cotton. Again, they’re going to be soft and have a very durable quality. Unlike the sheets that we just saw from Snowe, these are not designed to be similar in appearance.

Like I said, with Snowe, they’re both designed to have this matte appearance, not the case with Parachute. We’ve got the sateen set which offers this very pretty, super lustrous sheen. It’s got a really pronounced luminous sheen. Then you’ve got the percale set which is going to be more matte in appearance, which is also contributing to a lighter color. As far as the feel goes, they’re both very true to their percale and sateen personalities. The sateen is giving me this silky, buttery, smooth feel. It’s going to lie a little bit heavier on the body, offering this body-conforming drape. Then you’ve got the percale which is going to be lighter, airy, more breathable, and do a good job helping to keep you cool throughout the night. I will definitely recommend the percale set to folks who need a little bit more help keeping cool.

The sateen is probably going to be better suited for the cooler months when you need a little help keeping warm. As far as price range goes, pretty similar to Brooklinen, it’s about 109 to 170, depending on which size you get. Again, a great value. We’ve seen what they’re all made of, but let’s just recap all of these sheet sets highlights so you can get a better idea about which one is best for you. As far as the Brooklinen Classic Core Sheet Set, definitely recommending these sheets to sleepers who sleep hot. Of all the sheet sets, they’re definitely going to be the lightest, the coolest, and the most breathable. Additionally, if you love a crisp set of sheets, those are probably going to be right up your alley. Boll & Branch, if ethically sourced sheets is an important factor for you, those are definitely the ones that I’m going to recommend.

Also, if you like a sateen sheet set with more of a subtle luster but still that silky smooth feel, they’re going to be a great pick. As far as Snowe goes, I’m going to say the percale is going to be better for sleepers who run hot. The sateen is going to be better for folks who prefer that subtle luster, but really silky smooth feel. Because they’re made of Egyptian cotton, if, Egyptian cotton, you prefer that specific type of cotton, they’re going to offer that Egyptian cotton quality of durability. The Parachute sheets which admittedly are my personal favorite, they are my personal favorite, because the sateen woven sheet set from Parachute offers such a lustrous sheen. I’m definitely recommending the sateen woven set from Parachute for you sleepers who really prefer that very shiny, luminous sheen. The percale set from Parachute, it’s going to appeal more to sleepers who prefer that matte appearance and sleepers who run hot and need a little bit of help having a breathable sheet set cool them down. Concierge Collection Jacquard Damask Mattress Pad

Love butter and Ellen is one of our home in textile experts and she’s been at this for over 20 years and is always great to be able to have your point of view during the show so we are into the show we presented to you some beautiful sheets a great comforter set a moment ago now we’re going to talk about the foundation of your bed something that might not be as fun as may be decorating but really critical and helping to elevate the level of quality of sleep that we have and also protecting the investment of our mattresses this happens to be our jacquard amis mattress pad and as you look at it closely it is gorgeous you’re right it’s so beautiful this is one of the mattress pads that when you put it on your bed it is going to look like you got a new mattress which is really lovely you can immediately see the loft that is layered into it is on sale it is 59 dot 95 at on price break we have it on three monthly payments of 1998 it is stain and water repellent and it is available in sizes twin full king as well as california king it is one of our top 10 favorite products on the day and this will be one of the only chance is on the day to grab it as you shop with us we are inviting you to call so we talk about mattress pads i talked about protecting your mattress it is just like when you go to buy a computer you need to buy an antivirus yeah we need to have a barrier because of all the oils and how long we actually sleep on our mattresses and so they are critical and necessary but they also can do what you said they can breathe a little life into your mattress especially if you have an older mattress right well you know if you have an older mattress that you maybe did not have this type of protection on at the time and you have that forever stain what this is going to do is read invigorate it’s going to it’s going to protect that new mattress it is going to reinvent an old mattress and this one in particular I always feel bad pouring on it because look at it is gorgeous it has been to it it is incredibly beautiful with that jacquard damask that is woven into the fabric it is one of the few mattress pads that we carry that if you want to take the mattress that you currently have and make it look like a top-to-bottom new mattress this will do because if you notice the quilting with that double onion quilting that we have done here it gives it the appearance of a mattress ticking it looks like the top of it does and if you look at the edge we have done that faux pillow top design here so again it looks like that beautiful pillow nice design incredible nice snug fit on this with that 17 inch accommodation pocket elastic we have it over the sheet so that striping shows through but this is going to give you that fit so it will stay on your bed it will protect your mattress and at the same time enhance the field we have all different kinds of mattress pads we have mattress pads that will add three to four inches of loft this is going to add one and a half cup two inches so it will just make it feel soft sure absolutely and we are going to show you some of the features for you now fiberfill it is really saw I’m biogenic key so critical with so many of you that do have allergies that large double onion quilting just makes it look really beautiful when you go to take the sheets off the bed that’s really nice and especially for the guest bedroom yes you know that mastery old mattress and yeah and listen that’s that’s real talk everybody at some point know that will take that old mattress and maybe put it into another room cover it up no one will ever know those 14 ounces of yard for the lofty Phil that’s going to give you extra warmth of extra comfort and the stain and water repellent is key because if you have kids and pets that are in the bed or you like to have snacks and wine and milk and that sort of think something will inevitably spill but no need to worry because you can machine wash these and so what a great opportunity for you to be able to pick something like this up and this is a nice time of year you know as we are heading towards the end of sep tember quickly approaching October time is just flying isn’t it and before you know it will be on the heels of thanksgiving and your family will be there the in-laws are here as your sister your relatives and so it is nice to kind of get in front some of the work that we need to do in order to prepare home so that we feel confident and our guests really enjoy themselves and so this is a perfect time to do it it is you know I was looking this already has a perfect five star review on hsn.com and what is unique about this one if you notice it’s 14 ounces of fill per square yard the industry standard is 12 so this is above the industry standard but it is a lighter loft so what really is great is you know sometimes you just want a mattress pad to kind of enhance your match right not completely change the comfort level make it feel softer give it that wash ability and protection this is perfect for that at the same time it will upgrade maybe you just went for the basic mattress I recommend that all the time because pillow tops we’re out I mean if you go for that basic mattress you can really customize what you want on top you know I never thought about that you know what I mean really a great idea if you save a lot of money that way and this one you can take that basic mattress and look like make it look like the upgraded pillow top by just putting this on and the difference is in this and a pillow top it is removable it is washed and so it is going to give you that peace of mind with that protection that added bit of comfort but also that wash ability and when you’re looking at it you know the quilting that we’ve done it’s not just a design element it’s functioning to hold all that fiber fill in place so it does not shift it does not bunch it keeps evenly distributed on the mattress as you shop with us come on and we give you a 30 day money-back guarantee we’d love for you to stay on the phone lines as you place your orders to say hello but let’s talk about what happens in your life are you like I said helping maybe someone set up an apartment are you redoing your home maybe recently purchased a mattress and you are going to take that old mattress and maybe put it into a guest bedroom are you like me over the summer I had my nephew’s with me and so we had the you know blow up bed somebody was on the couch and so maybe even have one of those pullout sofa beds and even with all of those things these are nice to put over them you know so that you add that extra comfort and layer of softness and so you use them in so many different ways when you shop in traditional brick-and-mortar stores they can be very expensive and I think we’ve got a retail value on this we’ve got our traditional price of 6995 but you know they can cost anywhere up to upwards of over a hundred dollars especially the larger sizes you know we’re very unique in that we just charge the one price you’re getting a value twin price basically on every size which is unique you don’t see that even in your discounters and what’s beautiful about this one is even though it looks fancy and it looks like you’d have to dryclean it you don’t it’s washable it’s also protective so if you have that spill and I always say you know this is spills you see but it’s the things you don’t see perspiration dead skin all of that goes into your mattress so when you see those commercials on late at night and they talk about how your mattress doubles in weight that’s what’s going into your man Josh gosh so if it is negros but it’s true that’s why when you buy a mattress you know they always try to sell you a mattress pad very expensive ones that are just very have them they you do because manufacturers will actually void your warranty if you’re not using a mattress pad at the same time if you have that older mattress maybe it does have some staining maybe it’s been in the family a while but you want to it’s still pretty comfortable this is a great way to protect yourself from it to reinvent it to make it look like brand-new again and also have those embarrassing moments because hey where is it changes the sheets for you and it has a stay sane or ring in the mattress so you cover this one is really going to cover it looks new and even look like a mattress pad it means so that’s what I like about this me too and I think that is what makes it different from any other mattress pad that we care I agree most look like a mattress pad this one does not all so here is an update for you twin is almost sold out we have all sought we have the full queen king and as element and we also have the california king so all sizes are available and everything so far and the show has not only been offered with the flexpay which is really nice because you don’t have to pay the full amount but this is also on sale so you’re saving ten dollars off of our regular price and it is a must have it really is you know we don’t think about it we know how expensive mattresses are even you know kind of a low-end mattress or entry-level mattress can be expensive and mattresses can be thousands and thousands of dollars you want to and protect that really high-end investment our sleep is so critical you know and so this is another way for you to be able to enhance the way that you sleep there is not a ton of loss in this one but it is just enough just enough and so if you’d love to order 4476 13 is the item number we’d love to get this out to you we are going to be featuring for you new fresh pillows and so I mean these are all really the basics basic foundation pieces this one not so based on the basic in the way it looks but in the performance value so it looks really nice and I think there’s there’s those of you out there that you want to when you take the sheets off your bed your mattress to look a certain way this one is a perfect example of just taking that that beauty that a lot of times you spend a lot of money on in the mattress and then you cover it up this one really enhances and just shows you a beautiful look and updated look at the same time very functional very important you know mattress pads it’s not that luxury add-on it is an essential you want to be able to throw it in the wash every other time you change your sheets or once a month give it that that clean fresh lofty feel and at the same time know that you’re protected from spills from accidents I mean whether it’s someone get sick in the mill annoyed whether it’s the thing what happens the pets the you know just the breakfast in bed that goes awry this is going to keep you really relaxed because when you have that peace of mind isn’t it so nice to know that if something does happen you don’t have to rush and run and Panik you’re not ruining that thousand thousand dollar investment you have that textin and here’s the other thing you don’t know it’s there you don’t hear it you don’t feel it it is not a laminate it is not a waterproof pad that you’ve seen out at retail where you put it on and it is crinkly and you can hear it when you get into bed this is quiet you don’t know it’s there until you have that spill I love how it makes your bed when once you make your bed up and you put your sheets in your comforter it just looks so finished it looks so polished and that is something that you’re going to enjoy as well so if you love to order we’re going to be wrapping our presentation up in just a couple of moments give us a call I like that you get to think about all of these things now and then once you’ve got the foundation of all the basics of your home all squared away start decorating for the fall season right because you have to it in layers you can yet maybe get the basics out of the way now then do start the whole decorating thing and then you’ve got plenty of time to do shopping and all the cooking thank you my true from holidays is a lot it is a lot of things to juggle a lot to think about getting ready for the holidays what you want your home to feel special I know I do and all of these elements doing your inventory on your sheets and making certain those things that a little bit worn or foundation you know you can kind of take care of those things now that way the last minute you’re not feeling stressed or you overlooked something that you intended to Kira it’s so true and I think a lot of times those guests it can be stressful but when you are prepared and you’re prepared early yeah with the right mattress pad pillows sure important we want to freshen up your pillows you want to make certain that your towels or night yeah you know there are just a few basic things that you do inventory of but it is nice to kind of do that now because we’re you know so far away from it it’s true and you we’re kind of building up you know we have sheets that it can go on top of this the pillows are so important than the comforter I mean really tough to bottom where this show is going to help you get everything in place and it makes you know the holiday season that much better enjoy it more I do i do I really I’m one of the I like to get it all done ahead of time a little neurotic with it my I always tell my family I’m way I do it intentionally because I don’t like to be stressed out I don’t like to wait until the last minute I like to sit back and enjoy go to the parties and eat the food and eat the food and drink the wine and so for me you know i like to do all the work in advance right I really do make it makes a big big difference it allows you not to be stressed in to be in the moment in to be present and I love having my family like for me and my family I host Thanksgiving every year its traditional because typically i have to work so it is easier for me so i cannot wait until the right to get it done ur and i’m telling you i only have a townhouse so i don’t have a lot of rooms so you should see my house I mean people are on the floor there on the sofa there are inflatable beds I mean we’re all over in my house fine i got the castro convertible I mean believe me I mean we’re only you have a few mattress pads in your house I know I of course I do yeah well you know we talked about the pullout sofa yes I mean you know those matches are not best it will really change a fold-out sofa for the better it should get protected but also a little more comfortable and definitely prettier and I will tell you if this appeals to you this jacquard this high-end updated look in a mattress pad we don’t stock many of these this is like maybe one or two so if this appeals to you this is a great time to pick it up I really love the style of this i know we are going to cover it up with our sheets yes but when i do you know remove my sheets too long to launder them it is beautiful because it it is very high in most of them have a traditional baffle box design right is fine but this really is gorgeous and so I think you’ll love it all sizes are still available for you but you can see almost 400 out the door shop and save it’s on sale and you also get to take advantage of the flex pay so only one in the hour this is the one that we’ve selected for today I hope you don’t miss it but we’re going to give you a sneak peek to our innovation event that kicks off tonight with guy you

How to get started with digital art

– I started doing web comics about eight years ago and my style now is almost unrecognizable from what it used to be. I drew with a ball point pen on paper, scanned it and it looked like this. Then I started drawing digitally and it changed everything. There’s a ton of options out there and with the right tools anyone can learn how to do digital art. So this is my main set up and this is just a standard, entry level Wacom bamboo tablet that you just plug into a laptop with a USB cable. And I’ve had this for a few years and it has never given me any issues considering how badly I treat it.

Wacom sells a ton of different models ranging in price but the new 80 dollar Intuos should have more than enough features for anyone just starting out. I recently got a nine point seven inch Ipad Pro and Apple pencil. Mainly so I can work while I’m traveling but really I just use it to draw in bed. I do wish I went slightly bigger but it’s not a deal breaker. A lot of artists say that 10.5 inch is like the perfect size ’cause it makes all the toolbars accessible.

But I think this works just fine for me and also the new 329 dollar Ipad works with the Apple pencil so it makes portable drawing more affordable than ever. If you don’t want to spend 99 dollars on an apple pencil or you’re older ipad doesn’t support it keep in mind there are other stylus options out there. You just have to look for features like pressure sensitivity, palm rejection, tilt support, maybe some short cut buttons. And this will make the move to digital feel a lot more natural. Let’s take a step back and talk about the basics of drawing. To draw this bubble head of Will our art director, start with a rough sketch laying out the proportions with simple shapes. His head is an oval, his body is more or a rectangular oval and his arms and legs are like thick noodles.

Then I’ll go back and add details like his eyes connecting the ovals with more precise lines. Now you can start the inking layer. This is basically going over the rough sketch in a more precise way and you have to be a little bit more careful here as this is the final version of the drawing that you’ll color in. For me the biggest advantage of digital art is the ability to work in layers. Think of it like drawing on tracing paper. Layer allow you to stack the many parts of your image on different levels to form the whole drawing which makes editing the final image easier. So once I have the full outline of what I’m drawing, I just fill in the colors on another layer underneath and for shading I’ll add a layer over that.

Shading can be daunting but it’s pretty easy if you think about light in the physical world. First decide where your light source’s coming from and use that as your guide to determine which parts are the shadows and which parts will be the highlights. So for the shadows I take a black brush which allordo passe to darken one side of the drawing and highlight the other side in white where the light is hitting the subject. The end result is this lovely drawing of Will drawn in four separate layers. If you’re concerned about how drawing on glass might affect you, you can always look into matte screen protectors that will mimic the feeling of drawing on paper. I tried one out from a company called Paper Like and it really helped bring some resistance to drawing on the ipad.

So once you have all your tools we’re gonna move on to software. On my MacBook I like to use software like Adobe Photoshop but on the ipad I use Clip Studio Paint because it’s most like a desktop app. There’s all these other drawing apps on the ipad like Procreate or Adobe Draw but these apps kind of have a learning curve because you have to learn each app’s gesture controls like double tapping to undo. If you’re not happy with any of these apps there’s always other options. There’s software like Astropad or Duet Display that lets you connect your ipad to a computer so you can use it as a second display. And if you’re in the market for a new laptop altogether there’s always two in one devices like the Microsoft Surface Pro so everything’s on there. You can use the desk top version of Photoshop and there’s no transferring of files like you would have with an ipad. Since I’m most comfortable with the Macos interface, using a Wacom tablet just make sense for me.

If you’re in a position where you’re trying to decide what’s best for you. Think more about the apps you want to use and for what purpose. But ultimately, making art is a personal experience so play around and find your favorite options. Eight Sleep Pod Review | The Best Cooling Mattress Ever?!

– Hey Sleepers, Clint here from Tuck. Today we’re Tuck be checking out the brand new Eight Sleep Pod. Eight Sleep entered the sleep space with a smart mattress cover that had tracking and heating capabilities. Now they’ve evolved to the Eight Sleep Pod which is a comprehensive sleep system. It has a mattress, an active grid with heating and cooling capabilities, and it’s controlled by their app. The Pod boasts a lot of features and it’s one of the only active cooling products on the market. But does it work? Keep watching to find out. (upbeat music) Testing the mattress today, we have average weight sleeper Clint. That’s me! So here’s the deal, this is a unique mattress that tries to personalize your sleep experience in the form of data tracking and temperature regulation.

So we’re modifying our standard mattress review to incorporate those features, and I’ll be sharing my sleep experience along the way. Let’s get to it. Setting up the Eight Sleep Pod is a bit more involved than your standard bed in a box mattress. It arrives with three boxes of stuff and instructions to get you going. After unboxing the mattress and connecting everything according to the plans, you’ll need to install the Eight Sleep app and sync it with the hub. Follow directions on the app to prime the system and it will prompt you to set a user profile while waiting.

It’ll ask you a few questions about your sleep preferences and I chose for it to keep me cold throughout the night. You can also invite a partner to the other side of the bed. They’ll control their side independent of your side with their own device. They’ll get a sleep fitness score, and a breakdown of their results. You can share that within the app with your partner or keep it to yourself. It took about two hours to get everything up and running, so it’s something to keep in mind for your first night. The Eight Sleep Pod comes with an 11-inch mixed-foam mattress.

The comfort layers consist of two inches Luracor foam, which is a latex alternative, on top of two inches of polyfoam, on top of two inches of four pound visco memory foam. The support core consists five inches of high density polyfoam. The cover is made from polyester and cotton, and contain Eight Sleep’s active grid, which is a smart sleep tracker and thermal regulator. The active grid connects to your hub via tubing and the hub is controlled with the Eight Sleep app to heat or cool water throughout the grid to adjust to your sleep preference. The sleep tracker sends data to the app throughout the night — recording when you get in bed, fall asleep, reach deep sleep, toss and turn, wake up, get out of bed, and other metrics.

It tracks and charts these events and rates your rest with a sleep score. The mattress with the Eight Sleep Pod is about a six out of ten on the firmness scale. Making it a medium firm mattress. Since the grid enclosure sits atop the comfort foams, you can feel it through your mattress protector and sheets. It makes it a bit firmer and less conforming than it would otherwise be. You will feel closer to sleeping on rather than in the mattress. To gauge support, we look at spinal alignment while sleepers lay on their side. I recruited some help from the Tuck team to show how the mattress performs with different body types. As you can see the Pod provides adequate support for most sleepers, though, it’s slightly better for light and average weight sleepers.

To assess motion isolation, I placed a glass of water on one side of the mattress and I moved around the other. Like most foam mattresses, the Pod does a great job of absorbing motion, and the glass barely moves. The active grid cover does transfer some motion but it’s pretty indiscernible. When looking at edge support, I noticed significant sinkage while sitting on and sleeping close to the edge of the bed. It is pretty common for all foam mattresses to have weak edge support, and the Eight Sleep Pod is no exception.

Using our 2D and 3D pressure mapping tools we’re able to tell how well the Eight Sleep Pod relieves pressure. I brought back members of the team to show how the mattress performs with different body types. As you can see, the mattress did a decent job reliving pressure. We did experience some pressure on our hips and shoulders while laying on our side, but overall it did well. When it comes to temperature neutrality, the sleep system is one of the best on the market. The active grid can heat and cool to a wide range of temperatures and with the app you can dial in to your preferred temperature preference, and it will even adjust throughout the night.

(upbeat drum music) So I’ve been sleeping on the bed about a week. On my first day I set up my profile to be cold and stay cold throughout the night. Instantly I could tell the difference from my normal mattress, as soon as I got in bed it was really cool to the touch, I was able to get cozy and snuggle in really quickly. So the next morning, I was excited to look at the results and instantly I realized that it credited to me more hours than I actually slept.

Digging a little deeper into the results I was able to see that the app was registering me as being asleep the whole time I was in bed just watching TV, and in the morning after I woke up I laid in bed a little bit, as I normally do, it was still crediting me for more sleep. So, the app had a hard time distinguishing between when I was in bed awake and laying still, and actually sleeping. I also noticed that the app was registering me as waking up and getting out of bed multiple times throughout the night. I know consciously I didn’t do that, and I’m pretty sure I’m not a sleepwalker so that kind of stood out to me as well. There is a function in the app where you can edit your sleep sessions, so you can alter the time you get in and out of bed or fall asleep and wake up. You can’t however edit the events within your sleep sessions so those times I woke up and got out of bed, you can’t change that.

I did edit my sleep session to the times that I feel like actually fell asleep and woke up, and going forward I made an effort to make sure that I only got in bed when I was ready to fall asleep and when I woke up in the morning I got up and got out of there. So for the next few nights I wanted to test out the features that the app offers. They’ve got thermal alarms and temperature profiling. So the thermal alarm allows you to wake up with a gradual heating or cooling. I tested out both using no audible accompaniment to see how these things actually work. Warming worked really well for me, it got hot made me want to get up and get out of bed in the morning. Cooling — it did get really cold but it just felt comfortable to me and I wanted to stay in bed longer. I was surprised at how well the thermal alarm actually worked. I can see it being a huge benefit for couples because you’re not getting that sound to wake everyone up, you’re just heating or cooling your side of the bed and you wake up without disturbing your partner.

The temperature profile is how the system adjust to your temperature preferences throughout the night. It breaks it down to three phases; bed time, deep sleep, and complete sleep. It will adjust the temperature to your settings and what phase of sleep the app thinks you’re in. My profile was set to the default cold setting, and over the course of my time sleeping on the bed it did seem like it altered a little bit and got cooler for me which I did like. So I went in and actually made it a little colder to get a better, more complete night sleep. And it felt really great, I think I did. But going through my sleep data, I was still seeing all these events throughout the night, showing that I’m waking up and getting out of bed multiple times, still. So, I don’t know if that was me just tossing and turning too much because I felt like I was getting a full complete night sleep. So, I brought it to the team and we theorized that maybe I’m moving too far over into the opposite side of the bed, and the app is registering me as waking up.

I thought it was kind of odd when I was setting up my profile that I had to choose one side of the bed or the other, as a single sleeper I couldn’t just choose the entire mattress for myself. So, to test our theory I built a pillow barrier to keep me contained to one side of the bed, in hopes that these events would disappear. The next morning when looking over my sleeper data, I realized that it only had me getting up out of bed one time and all these other events were gone. So it really does appear that the two zones work independently from each other, and you can’t, as a single sleeper, utilize the whole bed for yourself.

This seems like a missed opportunity for the Eight Sleep Pod. The app also features smart home integration, so you can set a whole sleep mood for when you’re ready to go to bed, or connect that thermal alarm to your coffeemaker and start your morning off right. Now I didn’t test these features, but if they work that sound pretty awesome. That said, I did encounter some bugs with the app, so there are a few instances where the app displayed different data than the original readout. I don’t know what was causing this, and it always seemed to revert back to the right, original information. So, it had me confused on more than one occasion. While looking at heart rate, respiratory rate, and bed surface temperature, it seems like the information is mislabeled because I’m getting averages lower than my minimums. I’m thinking maybe the labels were swapped. The app is cool, obviously it needs a little work.

Hopefully they keep developing it and fix these bugs, because this app could be a really good tool. I didn’t set out to be a better sleeper but after a few days of getting poor results I really did want to see what I can do to up that rating. So I did tweak a little bit to try and get that better score. It’s almost like a game. Looking at this mattress it’s pretty comfy. It’s your standard medium firm all foam bed. I’m a combination side and stomach sleeper, so I usually prefer something softer more conforming, but that being said, it didn’t deter me from my normal sleeping positions. But the cooling features is where it’s at. It kept me really cool throughout the night — I loved it, it’s a really good night sleep. Now, lets see how the Eight Sleep Pod stacks up in our mattress test. It has an all foam feel, but slightly less conforming because of the active grid cover.

Support was very good for light and average weight sleepers, and good for heavy weight sleepers. Motion isolation is very good, while edge support is fair. Pressure relief is very good for average weight sleepers, and good for light and heavy weight sleepers, and lastly temperature neutrality is excellent. So here are a few takeaways from our Eight Sleep Pod testing. So, the Eight Sleep Pod is not just a mattress, it’s a whole sleep system and comes with a higher price tag. So, if you just recently bought a new mattress or love the one you have, you can’t purchase the technology separately and combine it with what you already have. The system has multiple components and as with any product, increasing the pieces involved increases the potential points of failure. Additionally, this thing has water running through it which makes physically moving it more challenging than a regular mattress. The technology is really cool but seems like there are a few kinks to work out. And if you’re a solo sleeper who tends to move around in the night or sleep more towards the center of the mattress, the system may struggle to track you properly.

We recommend the Eight Sleep Pod for temperature sensitive sleepers. So if you sleep excessively hot or excessively cool, the active grid can really help you regulate your temperature throughout the night. With the two independent climate controlled zones along with great motion isolation, and the thermal alarms to prevent further disturbance to your partner, the system is a great fit for couples. We recommend the Eight Sleep Pod for anyone who’s interested in sleep fitness or looking for alternative ways to improve their sleep. The sleep tracker and sleep fitness score offer potential tools to do so and I know I found myself wanting to improve my scores as the nights went on. We recommend this system for technology and smart home enthusiasts. It’s definitely an innovated sleep system. If you like new technology or you’re looking for a new device to pair with your smart home, this could be a good fit for you.

If you’re considering the Eight Sleep Pod here’s some additional information you may be interested in, the system comes with 100-night sleep trial and ships free. Pros & Cons of Common Fabrics | Fibres & Fabrics Part 1

Hey guys, welcome to my fibres and fabrics series. In this video, part one, I’ll be talking about some common materials that you likely have or will come across. And what the pros and cons are for both everyday use and the environmental impact. Part two will be about vegan synthetic versus animal materials. And part 3 will be all about upcycled and recycled materials. So definitely check those out as well. So first up is cotton, and I’ll include time codes below for the different materials if you want to jump ahead or reference certain ones. Cotton is probably the most common fabric and it’s a natural fibre, it comes from the cotton plant And it is: soft, breathable (meaning that air can move through it and moisture can evaporate through it), easy to clean (it’s machine washable), absorbent, versatile ( there’s tons of different kinds of cotton materials and garments), it’s good for people with allergies or skin sensitivities The cons are that it doesn’t hold dye really well so it fades overtime and can also bleed while being washed. It wrinkles, it can shrink in hot water, especially the first time it’s washed. The environmental pros are that it is biodegradable.

And the environmental cons are that it needs a lot of water to grow. It’s also usually bleached and chemically treated and dyed. Cotton also has one of the highest pesticide uses for crops. And it’s generally GMO as well. But these two things are prevented by purchasing organic cotton. Next is Linen, and it’s another natural material It comes from the flax plant and it was used all the way back in ancient Egypt. And linen as a fibre is: breathable, durable, lightweight, absorbent, it’s generally very cool and good for summer time, I also read that it’s antimicrobial but I wasn’t able to find very much in-depth information to back that up The cons are that is wrinkles easily It often requires gentler or hand washing and sometimes there is fake linen or ‘linen look’ material so you have to be careful of that. The environmental pros are that it requires little pesticides and water to grow, especially compared to cotton. And it is biodegradable.

And the cons are that it can sometimes be dyed with toxic chemicals but it depends on how it’s made. Another plant fibre is hemp. And it comes from the cannabis plant but a type that’s only used for hemp production. And as a fibre it is: durable, absorbent, it becomes softer with wear and washing, it’s breathable and it can also be hypoallergenic. The cons are that it can sometimes be rough, it wrinkles and different countries sometimes have very strict laws around growing and processing hemp. So there are difficulties around that with hemp fabric production. The environmental pros are that it doesn’t require pesticides or lots of water to grow, It doesn’t deplete nutrients from the soils so it’s a really good crop. It is biodegradable and because it’s very durable the garments usually last long And for environmental cons, I really couldn’t find anything. It’s basically seen as being the most eco-friendly material.

Then there’s polyester, which is likely the most common synthetic fibre. It’s made from petrochemicals and is: wrinkle resistant, durable, it dries quickly it’s colourfast, it’s machine washable it tends to retain it’s shape well and it’s cheap. The cons are that it doesn’t breathe which can also cause it to become smelly, it builds up static and it can also irritate the skin. An environmental pro is that it can be recycled but this does require another chemical process. And the environmental cons are that it doesn’t biodegrade, fibres come off of it when it’s being washed and those end up polluting the ocean, it’s energy intensive and very polluting to make, toxic chemicals are used to make it and it’s also very difficult to dye which requires a lot of chemicals.

Then we have wool. Wool is a natural protein fibre like your hair. And it mainly comes from sheep but can also come from alpacas, goats and other animals. Wool as a fibre is: very warm (it’s even warm when wet), water resistant, durable, very absorbent, flame resistant and hypoallergenic. The cons are that it shrinks in hot water, it must be hand washed or dry cleaned, it can pill and depending on the kind of wool, it can be itchy or irritating to the skin. The environmental pros are that it’s easily dyed, which usually means there are less harsh chemicals used, it’s biodegradable and because it’s very durable it means that the garment will usually wear really well and can be kept for a long time. The environmental cons are that because it comes from an animal there are issues and concerns around the treatment and care and wellbeing of those animals. And I will talk more about that in part two. Toxic chemicals and pesticides can also be used and this can be avoided by looking for organic wool. Next is acrylic which is a synthetic petrochemical fibre. It was developed to be a man made alternative to wool and it is: lightweight, soft, colourfast, machine washable and cheap.

The cons are that it tends to pill easily it doesn’t breathe, it builds up static. For the environmental pros, I really couldn’t find anything. And the cons are that it doesn’t biodegrade, it’s not easily recycled, there are toxic chemicals used to make it, it’s energy intensive and again fibres wash off of it that end polluting the oceans. Then there’s silk which is a natural protein fibre. It comes from the cocoon of the silk worm. And it is: very soft, it has a natural sheen, it’s lightweight has a good drape, so it generally looks very nice in clothing and it’s often good for very sensitive skin.

The cons are that it’s expensive, it requires hand washing or dry cleaning, it’s not very durable and it’s susceptible to discolouration from sunlight or perspiration. The environmental pros are that it is biodegradable, and it dyes very easily. And the environmental cons are that the silk worms are actually killed in the process of harvesting the silk from the cocoons so it is not at all an ethical or vegan material. Next is nylon another synthetic made from petrochemicals It was developed to be a synthetic replacement for silk. And it is: strong, weather resistant, versatile, water repellent, machine washable, it dries quickly and it’s cheap. The cons are that some types of nylon build up static, it can irritate skin The environmental pros are that it is a pretty durable material so the garment will usually last a long time And for the cons, like with polyester, fibres come off when it’s washed that end up polluting the oceans, toxic chemicals are used to make it, there are a lot of harmful emissions, it’s energy intensive and it’s not biodegradable.

Then there’s spandex, also called elastane or lycra. It’s a very elastic fibre also made from petrochemicals. And it’s usually found blended with other fibres. It is: stretchy, it helps clothes retain their shape, and it can help with fit. The cons are that it breaks down over time, it can also become brittle and yellow. The environmental pros are that it can help make clothes not stretch out and the environmental cons are that it doesn’t biodegrade, it’s energy intensive and polluting to make and toxic chemicals are used. Finally there’s a few naturally derived synthetic fibres. The first I’ll talk about is rayon and it’s primarily made from a wood pulp that goes through a chemical process. And as a fibres it’s: soft, inexpensive, absorbent, anti-static, (unlike other synthetic materials), The cons are that it’s not very durable, it tends to pill, it wrinkles, it loses strength when wet and can easily become misshapen and it also shrinks very easily. I actually couldn’t really find any environment pros for rayon except for the fact that it uses less toxic chemicals than other synthetics but there’s still toxic chemicals, so I still see that as a con.

Because it’s a wood pulp it can contribute to deforestation and it’s energy intensive to make. There’s also bamboo and the majority of bamboo is actually bamboo viscose or a bamboo rayon And countries have different laws about whether or not it has to be labeled as viscose derived from bamboo or a bamboo rayon. But basically it’s the same process as rayon but instead of using wood pulp, they use bamboo. And as a fibre it is soft, breathable, very absorbent, and also doesn’t build up static. The cons are that like rayon, some bamboo fabrics will pill really easily and I like I mentioned different countries will have different rules as how it’s supposed to be labeled so that can be confusing. The environmental pros are that bamboo is very renewable to grow and requires little water and pesticides.

And the cons are that there are still toxic chemicals used to make the material, and it’s energy intensive. And the last fibre I’m going to talk about is lyocell or tencel. And it’s another naturally derived synthetic made from wood pulp. And it is: soft, very absorbent, resistant to wrinkles, versatile, durable, breathable, anti-static and also claims to be hypoallergenic. The cons are that it can pill easily and also sometimes needs special care. The environmental pros are that it is biodegradable, It’s made in a closed loop system so the chemicals are recycled. And it’s much less toxic to produce than other synthetics and natural synthetics like rayon. The cons are that it is still uses quite a bit of energy to produce and because it does come from wood pulp it could also contribute to deforestation but overall it is the most environmentally friendly synthetic material.

So of course there are also other materials than the ones I’ve mentioned and you’ll also likely find a lot of blends. And blends can combine the benefits of both materials but it can also negate some of them. For example, a polyester/cotton blend will mean that the item is no longer biodegradable. As you’ve probably noticed, no material is perfect. And it’s just about trying your best to make informed decisions and also choosing the right materials for the function of the garment. I personally try to stick with natural materials for both comfort and environmental reasons.

But it doesn’t make sense all the time. For example with swimwear, it makes much more sense to have something that doesn’t absorb water and dries quickly. So I hope you’ve found this interesting and maybe learned something. Please let me know in the comments if they are any pros or cons that I missed. Thank you so much for watching and I’ll see you in the next one. .

Village & Pillage: Ten Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Minecraft

Hello! My name is and I’m Mojang’s favourite piece of obsolete hardware! At least, that’s what they told me when they dumped me in here! Anyway, here’s 10 things you didn’t know about Village and Pillage. We added pandas to Minecraft! They’re so happy to be part of the game, that they’re dancing! Umm… in the sky. This glorious glitch occurred because adult pandas were developed to jump up when baby panda sneeze.

Problem is, they didn’t really come back down again… But just don’t sneeze around pandas and they’ll be fine. In fact, we’re just gonna change the Minecraft box art from this, to this. Problem solved! In desert villages, sometimes cats spawn in libraries, but then they immediately run away. Clearly the problem here is that the libraries don’t offer books that appeal directly to cats. So developers, add these to the next Minecraft update please: See anything wrong with this picture? When the developers added the profession textures, for no reason the babies’ head’s disappeared! But come on, who really needs a head anyway? I don’t have a head and I’m great, right? … Please like and subscribe. Awww, aren’t foxes cute? My heart would be melting right now – if I had one. But when we first made foxes for the game they turned out like this. Not so much a cute fox, as a nightmare-fuel of a box.

This is a totally understandable mistake. After all, the word “fox” and the word “box”, rhyme. Here’s a list of other potential rhyming-based errors I’ve calculated together. Hey that last one sounds fun! six when we were designing new buildings we decided When we were designing new buildings, we decided to add attics. Unfortunately, dark attics inadvertently became a popular hangout spot for monstrous hostile mobs. Phew! Good thing there are no hostile mobs in here. Probably. When we gave villagers the ability to use beds, we must have accidentally typed “insomnia for the win” into the game’s code, because the villagers just wouldn’t get along with their beds. They’d shift around, talk in their sleep and… oh no, please don’t start losing your heads again! I simply can’t understand why the villagers would have trouble getting a good night’s sleep. It’s not like Minecraft has anything that punishes you for not sleeping — Ooh, sorry about that.

Must have a virus. Don’t the new villages look nice? I think they look fantastic, and I’m not just saying that because I’ve had nothing to look at but the inside of a broom closet for almost two decades . All the new villages are built using materials from the biome they’re in, right down to the colours used to dye the bedsheets. See? Oh, is this really the only clip of the bedsheets I have? Recognise this fellow? It’s a Pillager, and it’s a real charmer. I’m only joking, it’s a total jerk. JERK ALERT They’re in our upcoming game, Minecraft: Dungeons, and now they’re being added to Minecraft! It’s a concept from Lead Creative Designer Jens Bergensten. Hear that war horn? That’s the sound of trouble. The sound needed to be somewhat unusual to match the Pillagers’ unusual characteristics. Special, but also easily recognised as an alarm. For example, Currently you are not alarmed. But now… Has it always been your dream to live in a swamp? Mine too! And with the Village & Pillage update, Mojang is about to make both our disgusting dreams come true. See, if you build a village in a swamp, you’ll get special swamp villagers! Just look at them! A bit like a sneezing kitten, they’re both gross, and adorable.

Thank you so much for watching. I’ll see you next month for 10 things you didn’t know about don’t . Don’t forget to like and subscribe, and to pick up Minecraft at your local games emporium. you .

Minimalist Baby Essentials- Baby Checklist

Hey everyone its Lisa from the blog farmhouse on Boone where I like to share my handmade home food from scratch and our simple farmhouse lifestyle here on Boone Street now today I have something a little different than what I’ve usually share it is my minimalist mom baby essentials baby checklist now if you follow along you may know that I’m do with our baby in one week and I also am one to keep clutter low and just things in general in our house I like to have you of them keep things simple and clutter free though baby gear is no exception to that so as a mom of four almost five kids I kind of figured out by now what it is that I actually need for a baby and so this of course is my opinion and it can vary from person to person I just want to share with you what I personally find necessary and what I’ve prepared for this baby as I mentioned I am NOT one to store items and have a bunch of clutter in my house so I don’t have bins full of things in the basement because I find that usually I keep so few outfits for a child at each given stage that the time they’ve outgrown it it’s pretty much trash anyway it’s stained up and just not good anymore so because of that I’ve just bought a few new things for this baby and the baby will in each stage probably own about three or four good pieces where I’m completely out and then I will most likely have no use for them anymore let’s start with the clothing I have a few organic onesies from Burt’s Bees baby and I will link below the reasons that we’ve chosen to go with organic on the clothing but just some basics we don’t know if we’re having a boy or girl so I like to just do some grays and whites and that is the theme of this entire thing so that everything can mix and match and I have to worry about owning a whole lot I just have about five onesies and then a few simple sleepers mostly the zip up once all organic again because zip up sleepers are so easy to change the middle of the night and things like that I find that there are some very adorable clothes but the babies always sleeping and cozy and so we don’t really need any cute clothes when they’re newborns basically just zippered sleepers and onesies so sleepers are just easy comfy and no fuss I only buy ones with foot ease because I do not like to deal with baby socks they’re always falling off and you’re always losing them so I don’t really need to own any socks for this baby because all the sleepers have buddies okay as far as bedding goes first I want to say that I have no crib and no bassinet for this baby and that’s because after four kids I know exactly what I’m going to end up doing and that is co-sleeping obviously again a very controversial topic so research that on your own I’m not recommending it but I am saying that is definitely what we do for a good six months the baby will sleep nowhere except for in bed with me and so a lot of these things I don’t even need yet a couple organic crib sheets just plain old white from Burt’s Bees baby I really like their essentials line because they just have all of the baby essentials in organic cotton fabrics and neutral colors which is totally perfect for my kind of minimalist style of baby gear and then my other favorite thing which I didn’t find out about until my fourth maybe third but I’m thinking fourth child are these muslin swaddle blankets so I actually made these with some cotton gauze fabric and they are the best swaddle blankets around one they are lightweight so no matter you know if it’s really warm in your house like it’s winter right now but we’d have a wood stove in our house stays really warm so I still don’t want the baby you know swaddled up with anything that’s too heavy and what I like about these is they’re stretchy and they’re you can make them oversized so you try to swaddle a newborn baby even in a conventional flannel swaddle blanket they are so tiny that you can’t even get them tight they’re always just falling off and just not big enough so these are awesome in my blog post that I have for this I will be linking some swaddle blankets you can buy I also plan to eventually do a tutorial on how to make these super cheap so I have a bunch of these made up for my last baby and I’ll be reusing them now what I also like about these is they’re so versatile so with my other kids I carry around like spit cloths and nursing covers and all of that well I find that these if I throw a couple of them in my bag can be nursing cover it can I can use it to wipe off spit I’ll just use this all day and then wash it really this kind of cuts down a ton of different things in my diaper bag also you could put it over if you’re in a public place and you change the baby you can lay it over the changing table so I find these to be a very versatile baby essential-1 heavy blanket you need one heavy blanket if your baby is born in the winter or fall or maybe even early spring to put over their car seat when you go out I again got this working in it cotton cable-knit blanket from Burt’s Bees baby I just thought it was pretty and I like to have one nice blanket to go over the car seat I should also note that I will not use blankets in bed until a baby is about to the baby like I said will sleep with me for six months but then after that when they go in their bed I still don’t give them a blanket like this we’ll just stick with the organic cotton crib sheet this is just for the car seat and stroller when we’re out and about four is gear this is gonna be pretty short section because as a mother of four and someone who’s very stressed out by clutter I just don’t do a bunch of gear so why not have a bunch of older kids so I can’t put a baby in a swing and just leave them there and so I use a baby wrap and I started using baby reps with my second baby and I thought they were basically life-changing but the second third and fourth baby they pretty much stay in that wrap all day every day until they’re about six months old now six months like I mentioned before is kind of when I start to think about getting baby on a schedule and maybe laying down some in their own bed or you know during a nap for six months straight I worry about no schedules and the baby goes in the wrap this time I have this gray stretchy knit wrap from Sally baby and I’m going to be doing a tutorial on tying this but I obviously need a baby first I’m going to wait to the baby’s born but it’s just basically a stretchy long piece of fabric I put this on put the baby in there cozy I pull their head out if they’re awake I put their head in if they’re asleep they can see everything hear my heartbeat feel close to me they’re comforted all day so I can keep going about my work and baby is comfortable and happy highly recommend wraps I absolutely love them they are literally my number one baby essential if I had nothing else I mean I’m sure I’d have to have a couple of things of clothing and diapers but it would be this I love my wrap I could not live without it the next thing on gear is a highchair obviously in Nita highchair I don’t use one at all until at least six months because my babies don’t eat anything for six months at around six months they want to start playing with food and picking things up I like to have a highchair I’ll eat in the blog post a convertible highchair that can be used as a highchair and then later on as a booster scoop that pushes up to the table so I like that to minimize even more what you end up needing obviously a car seat we just have a Chico ki Fateh car seat and of course a crib again I don’t have one set up yet and I won’t need it for about six months but obviously a baby essential for the checklist all of these things are linked in the blog post that you can see the collection that I came up with for my minimalist baby essentials checklist in the diapering and feeding category this post is in no way sponsored by cotton babies are accountable but I have been cloth diapering for four kids and this will be my fifth and so I have found out exactly what I like what leaks what doesn’t I have tried pocket diapers all-in-one diapers and then the all in twos and I’ve found a diaper that I love and that I will only use now and that is the konna Bumbry i have a bunch from my last child in the one size those are great once baby reaches about ten pounds but this time kind of this for fun just because I was excited to buy a few things for baby since I had it yet I actually bought some in the newborn size so the way the economies work is they’re basically just a waterproof cover and the reason they’re called a con of um is there a budget-friendly option so they’re kind of the cheapest cloth diapers on the market for very basic there’s pretty much nothing to them the way they work is they’re just a plastic cover that snaps and you can put any insert on top of them so I have some of these hemp ones from G diaper I’d have a couple of pre folds I have some flannels that I just made some of the Gerber pre folds and then some of these microfiber ones no matter what it works the same way you just take whatever you have and you put it on top and then just snap it and I’ve never found anything that doesn’t leak like this one doesn’t leak it’s the only one where baby can be left in it for a couple of hours and not leak through that’s my honest opinion and my sister is the same way she cloth diapering and we both feel that a Cana bump is the best brand that we’ve found for not leaking I have a stash of one size of kind of bums just in plain white that is from my last child they’re still good and usable and then I also bought three newborn covers just for fun and because I’m looking forward to cloth diapering my newborn the other thing for feeding is bamboo nursing pads so reasonable nursing pads if you’ve ever nursed before you know that while your milk supply is regulating they’re gonna need those or you’re going to need to pack extra shirts for yourself as far as wipes go at home I have a bunch of different little cloths that I use for reusable wipes I just throw them right in the diaper pail with the diapers that makes it really easy on the go I just use some unscented wipes for my diaper bag skip hop was kind enough to send me this and I personally picked it out on their website and I like it just because it’s neutral has a lot of pockets and it’s a good size I can fit my cloth papers couple extra outfits for on-the-go and my muslin swaddle blankets this should cover me it’s not huge sometimes I have to pack things for my other kids too like extra clothes or coats or something like that so it’s a perfect size for that and I mostly liked it for the neutral colors and it fits in with all my other items for bathing this list is short we don’t bathe our babies a whole lot first of all I can link an article below on why we don’t even bathe them at all in the first 24 hours after that I simply stick to dr.

Bronner’s castile soap which is just a coconut oil and a few other oil-based soap all natural nothing bad in it and I’ll put that in a foaming hand soap container with some water and maybe a drop or two of lavender essential oil and then that’s it that is all you need to bathe baby they don’t need to be washed a whole lot they’re not really out getting dirty and it’s just bad for their skin so once a week wipe down with some dr. Bronner’s is all I use so that’s it for the bathing portion of this video that’s it what would you add to this list you can leave that in the comments below I’m also gonna link the blog post which has a lot more information on all these items as well as the links and prices and all that kind of things so that you can see my checklist there also be a pinnable image so you could pin this later on Pinscher and you’re looking forward to collecting some of these things that you’re not quite ready and you just need a checklist there’ll be a printable image there to put on Pinterest for later thank you so much for watching this video and stopping by my channel I really appreciate it if you’re new please hit that subscribe button I share our handmade homes lots of DIY projects and sewing and things like that food from scratch and our simple farmhouse lifestyle here on food street thank you so much for stopping by the farmhouse

Chinese Street Food – ENTIRE BOWL ONE-NOODLE and Halal Beef Salad! | Yunnan, China Day 2

– That has to be one of the coolest bowls of noodles that I’ve ever seen being made, ever. (upbeat music) This entire bowl, is all just one noodle. That is one single noodle. (upbeat music) Good morning, I hope you’re having an amazing day, it’s Mark Wiens. We just arrived to Weishan, which is in Dali in Yunnan Province, China. And today is gonna be another incredible day, but a very diverse day of food in Yunnan. We’re starting here in the village, we’re gonna enjoy a few bowls of noodles.

And then after that we’ll be visiting an authentic very well preserved Muslim village. But first, oh I think we’ve just arrived. This is the spot for breakfast. Breakfast bowl of noodles number one. Hello! We’re gonna try to get a look into the kitchen, where they are assembling the bowls of noodles. And as soon as you step in here, this is, this is a meat sauna. You can smell the, these are pork noodles. And you can smell the porky aromas back here. This is a special type of rice noodle that is common in this part of Yunnan. But it’s rare to find elsewhere, and it’s a rice noodle that they make with, it’s not with raw rice powder, but it’s made with pre-cooked, rice that’s cooked, and then ground, and then made into noodles.

It comes with two components, one is the bowl of noodles, with soup. And the other is the bowl of pork with all the seasonings, spices. So what you do is you take some of the noodles and you dip them into the soup with the pork and all the spices before you eat it. And then it comes with some pickles, there’s some peanuts, there’s some just wonderful looking things. The soup is a pork bone soup, you can see how it’s almost milky in color, how it’s been boiled for so long. I just have to taste the plain soup first. Mmm, mmm. Really, really rich. A little bit, not too oily. And it’s not salty yet. And then this is the soup that’s full of flavor. You can see the pork, there’s skin, oh, look at that. Oh, it’s like pulled pork and then just a chunk of skin, and then she added in a few scoops, she asked me if I wanted it spicy, which, of course I had to say yes.

So look at that soup, it’s just, oh there’s chili oil in there, it’s, okay, lemme just taste this. There’s sesame seeds in there as well. Oh, oh that is superb. It’s not sweet at all, it’s just you can really taste the sesame seeds in there. That has a nice chili burn to it, and then it’s porky. Okay, into the soup. I mix it in with some of that pork. Oh that looks incredible. Oh, that is sensational. It’s really nice and spicy. The sesame seed oil flavor in there really stands out. And then the pork is just, just fall apart like shredded tender. The noodles are very nice and soft. They’re not like mushy, and they’re just a tiny bit gummy in texture.

The noodles and the soup broth, are very plain on their own, but all the flavor is coming in that pork, and that seasoning, and all those spices in there. And that is extraordinary flavor. Okay, now I’m gonna try to fish out that piece of skin. Oh, mmm. Oh that just, that literally just disintegrates in your mouth. Oh you don’t need to chew that. It’s just completely soft. And it tastes like it’s been boiled and rendered down so it’s mostly skin and like collagen I think. Mmm. That one has a little bit of a sweet taste. And peanuts. But this broth, is next level. (upbeat music) Oh, what a way to start this morning. And it’s even better because it’s kind of cold and rainy outside. That is, that hits the spot. Most of the buildings in this ancient town of Weishan date back to the 1400’s. And this was one of the strongholds of the kingdom in Yunnan. And it’s so well preserved, it’s so beautiful.

I love how it’s quiet, and it’s so charming. So we’re just gonna walk around for a little bit, and then after that we’re gonna eat another bowl of noodles. (upbeat music) Okay, we’re just stopping at a street food stall here. – Yeah, this is like Dali’s specialty, so this is basically the rice cake’s same texture with the rice noodle we just had. – It’s like a sheet of the noodles that we just, okay hold on for this. (engine starting) What’s the name of it again? (speaking foreign language) – And then the noodle is (speaking foreign language) – Ah, okay. (speaking foreign language) – Means strips (speaking foreign language) – Means something bigger.

– Alright. (speaking foreign language) – Oh she puts that inside of it? – Yeah, yeah. – Oh wow. – Something extra. (speaking foreign language) Yep. Oh yeah but we’ll try it here. (speaking foreign language) – Kind of like burrito style. Yeah this looks and smells fantastic. Mmm. (laughs) Oh, oh that is very very tasty. Kind of dense, because you’ve got that rice, that rice tortilla. And then you’ve got the crispy fluffy donut on the inside, but you’ve got all that flavoring.

The chili sauce, the pickles go in there very nicely. The peanuts. Okay. And this is a snack we can eat while walking around I think. (speaking foreign language) – That was great walking around the old town and we are walking down an alley now to go eat our next bowl of noodles. Oh so this is the one noodle here. (upbeat music) Wow, that’s amazing. And we’re here to eat what is called One Noodle, because it really is one strand of noodle. (speaking foreign language) – This is things you put on top of the noodle soup in the end. (upbeat music) (speaking foreign language) (laughs) – Yeah, you forget every time. (laughs) – That has to be one of the coolest bowls of noodles that I have ever seen being made, ever.

It’s just, it’s just a beautiful work of art how she prepares that bowl of noodles. And it really, in your bowl, you have one single noodle. And from what Lucy was telling me about this particular restaurant, this is the original place to eat this One Noodle. And they won the World Record, the China record for the longest noodle in all of China. I think they had a noodle competition, oh yeah you can see on the walls, some of the photos that they have on display. They made a noodle that was a couple kilometers in length. So they can make, you get one noodle here, that’s all you eat is one noodle. In order to eat this bowl of noodles you have to eat it all in one bite. No, I’m just joking. (laughs) You can break the noodle, it’s acceptable to break the noodle. But look at that, it’s just coiled around a million times, that’s all just a single blob. This entire bowl, is all just one noodle. That is one single noodle. I guess I definitely have to try the one noodle first.

(chuckling) Mmm. Oh. Not only is it one noodle, but that one noodle is amazing. It’s gummy, it’s not overcooked, it’s a little bit al dente. It is like a perfect thickness. Mmm, and that’s like chili oil soup, you can taste the schezwan pepper in there. And then this is some kind of garlic and water. Oh, excellent. Okay, I think that’s good for my seasoning. I forgot a little bit of vinegar in there. That’s a really good noodle. Now lemme taste some of that broth. On the top is kind of some chili oil. But the it is a, kind of a meaty, kind of a thick broth. Mmm, mmm. Oh with that garlic in there, I love that garlic in there. That fresh garlic. Oh that adds such a little thing that adds so much. The most impressive thing about that bowl of noodle was watching her make it and bowl the noodle. That was, that was a sight to see. We’re just exiting out the old gate. That was, it’s a really nice place that you can visit. And I’m pretty full of noodles right now.

From here we are driving to a well-preserved traditional Muslim village. And they are known for their food as well, so we’re gonna discover and eat some more delicious food and just walk around that village next. (upbeat music) We have just arrived to Donglianhua, and in Chinese that translates to: the Eastern lotus pond village. And so you come into this village, its absolutely beautiful. At the entrance, there is a lotus pond.

And then it’s surrounded by rice fields. It’s an ancient Muslim village. And from what Lucy was telling me, it’s not a touristy village at all, so there’s not like souvenir shops. It’s not like an attraction village. But it’s one of the most well-preserved Muslim villages in this entire area. And so we’re gonna have a chance to eat, and then we’re gonna have a chance just to walk around and see. There’s also some very well-preserved mosques as well. (horn honks) We are on our way to go to one of the courtyards where there is a lady who, she has a courtyard, she has a house, she has restaurant, she cooks. It’s gonna be some delicious food. Look at this grand entrance, this gate. And the decoration, the painting. And step inside of here. There’s paintings, there’s artwork, it’s so quiet, it’s so peaceful, and this is where we’re gonna eat lunch. Something that’s very interesting to me, because my wife is Thai and we’re based in Bangkok, we’re based in Thailand. Is that the family who owns this property, and this courtyard, she was just explaining to us that their family had to flee to Thailand and so they lived in Chiang Mai for many years.

And so they have roots both here in Yunnan, and Chiang Mai as well in Thailand. (speaking foreign language) – We’re in the kitchen now, and she’s gonna be making a couple of different dishes. The first thing that she’s making is a Muslim Yunnanese style noodle. And the important ingredients that she mentioned are especially the green pumpkin, as well as potato. And now she just finished chopping up some cured goose, which she got out of the freezer, and that’s gonna also flavor the noodles. And she’s gonna, we’ll see what else she makes. (meat sizzling) (speaking foreign language) – That’s the ginger.

– The beef, beef and ginger? – Yeah. (meat sizzling) – This one is still for the noodles? – Yeah, yeah. (meat sizzling) – She added quite a generous amount of oil to the wok, and then she added in some of the beef which is already cut into little pieces. And then she added in a bunch of onions, and then in goes the tomatoes. But wow, that aroma is already smelling incredible. (speaking foreign language) – All the ingredients that she cooked are for the soup of the noodles, but now she’s actually making the noodles from scratch with flour and mixing in some water, and just slightly kneading it and massaging it. (speaking foreign language) – It’s a lot of effort, and it’s a lot of work, but I can guarantee you that the result is gonna be more than impressive. (speaking foreign language) – The dough is resting and rising. She’s gonna get started on a beef salad that she’s making. (speaking foreign language) – She has already precooked the beef, because the beef takes, it actually takes days to prepare.

But she’s showed us some of the raw beef. She massages it in salt, and then let’s that rest for two days. And then the beef is braised in a broth and liquid that contains many different spices. There’s black cardamom, and there’s schezwan peppers, there’s dry chili, there’s caramel, which is what makes the broth really dark. And then that’s braised for a few hours at least. I actually had no clue as to how she was gonna assemble a salad, but she is just spiraling it. Like spokes on a wheel. Oh, that’s gorgeous. (speaking foreign language) – She’s just hand ripping them into the boiling water. Oh I love this style of noodle. And just like, rough homestyle noodles. (upbeat music) The noodles back in. (speaking foreign language) (upbeat music) (speaking foreign language) – It keeps getting more and more complex, she keeps adding things. She had a separate pan of the soup broth, which is beef bones broth she then boiled. And then she drained the water out of the noodles and put the noodles back into the beef broth.

Then she added the goose, cured goose fat. And goose, then she, oh and she’s dishing it out. Then she added the pumpkin mixture, she added the onions beef mixture, and it is ready. Wow, that looks hearty. (speaking foreign language) (upbeat music) (speaking foreign language) – I’m walking out of the kitchen just amazed, just flabbergasted. What a meal, she is a master chef. Okay, so we’re in the courtyard, we’re sitting down for lunch now. This is a picture perfect setting, it’s gorgeous. The courtyard, the scenery, and her cooking on top of that. I am like overwhelmed right here. The food looks unbelievable. The beef salad is not only one of the prettiest beef salads I’ve ever seen in my life, it might be one of the prettiest dishes I’ve ever seen in my life. On the bottom you will see it’s all shredded radish as well as more of that same dressing. And it’s just, it’s just filled. So I think you can kind of get a little bit of everything with that beef.

Oh, wow. That is sensational. Oh, that’s stunning. Mmm. Oh that beef is so tender. And the flavor is just embedded within the veins of that beef. And it’s, oh that’s extreme flavor. And then you’ve got that really crisp, really refreshing radish shreds on the bottom there. You’ve got that dressing, you can taste all that chili oil. You can really taste the sesame oil, and the sesame seeds in there.

And next up for the noodles, which she made completely from scratch, by hand. Sheets of noodles, there’s onion in here. Oh man, this looks, it doesn’t get fresher than this. Mmm. Oh, oh wow that’s stunning. Those noodles are so silky smooth. They’re not like delicate, like thin noodles, these are hearty, slightly thick, a little bit gummy. But you can taste the difference in how they’re handmade. It’s absolutely stunning. Unbelievable. That is one of those dishes that will change your life. The final dish we got here is pumpkin, steamed pumpkin. And she made this with some ginger, and this just looks delicious as well. Oh, even the pumpkin’s outstanding. It’s like melt in your mouth. Oh, that texture. It’s really really fragrant. It’s a little bit sweet. It’s, mmm, it’s not starchy at all, but more silky. (speaking foreign language) (laughs) (upbeat music) – This is one of those dishes that I never want to end. I just want it to be an everlasting dish. It’s absolutely insane. (upbeat music) (sighs) – Every single bite of this salad, has just blown me away.

(upbeat music) (speaking foreign language) – Okay. I had no idea what to expect when we first entered this gate, but now I can safely say that you will find one of the world’s greatest beef salads behind this door. And those are really recipes and dishes that have been preserved through her family and they’re really hard to find. She made it with love. That was an honor to have such a culinary experience like that. Chickens for sale. (chickens clucking) (speaking foreign language) (upbeat music) – We’ve just arrived to the village mosque, and it’s an extremely well-preserved wooden mosque. Which dates back to the Ch’ing Dynasty, sometime around the 1700’s. And up here there’s a school. Wow, this is gorgeous architecture. A few flights of steps and we made it to the very top. Wow, the views are spectacular. And you can see over the entire courtyard of the mosque on this side, and then over here on this side, you’ve got a nice view of the valley, and the mountains in the background.

And rice fields outside of the village. (upbeat music) (speaking foreign language) – We’re in Dali new town here. And we’re at a restaurant tonight, to eat an ethnic Chinese type of food which is Jingpo food. (speaking foreign language) – There’s just a rainbow full of ingredients that’s so many ingredients on the table, and seasonings. I saw some grasshoppers that we’re gonna try as well for dinner tonight. All of the dishes are ready. We’ve got a little bit of a feast here for dinner tonight. There’s so many dishes on the table, I think we have at least 10 different dishes. It’s really interesting for me in watching them cook. This food, the Jingpo food, it comes from the region of China which is near to the border of Myanmar. And that’s sort of the area where China, as well as Myanmar, and Thailand, and Laos, that area where the cultures all come together. And that’s the, so the food you can see many similarities of ingredients.

It’s colorful, there’s chilies, there’s lots of fresh herbs. And just a colorful spectrum of different dishes. Since the grasshoppers happen to be right in front of me, I’m gonna begin with the grasshoppers. She deep fried them, and then just seasoned them with a little bit of powdery seasoning. So these should be crispy and beautiful. Oh, look at how golden they are. Oh yeah, those are good. They have a little bit of a sausagey flavor, and nice and crispy. A wonderful snack. Next up I’m gonna try some of the chicken salad. This is one of their signature dishes. It’s shredded chicken, and then she mixed it with minced chili.

There’s some herbs in there, and there’s some chilies on the side too. You can taste a little bit of the chilies in there. Oh, oh, that chili’s pretty sweet, and a little bit spicy. Okay, over here is one of their signature dishes, which is fried ribs, with lemongrass. And I love how rough cut it is, just like a stack of lemongrass on the top of this dish. Mmm hmm. Oh those are awesomely good. The pork is nice and crispy from being deep fried. This one is a minced pork salad, and again it’s very finely chopped with lots of herbs in there. There are peanuts in here, and chilies. And this looks very very Thai or Burmese. – White celery. – Oh, it’s white celery in there too. Mmm. Oh that one is, that one is awesome. It’s extremely refreshing. To me it almost tastes like Tabbouleh, like parsley that’s been chopped up like that. This one is ferns and I think she just blanched the ferns, and then it’s served with this sauce.

This sauce looks fantastic. Mmm. Oh that sauce is wonderful. And it’s a yellow pea paste kind of like block, and then she kind of mixed it up with some spices as well. There’s some chilies, and there’s both fresh chilies and dried chilies in there. Mmm. Oh. You know that’s not the most attractive looking dish, but it’s really tasty. It has this incredible smokey flavor, and then it’s a little bit starchy, a little bit goopy, but the flavor’s amazing. This one is an omelet that he made with climbing wattle shoots. And this is very popular in Thailand as well. Mmm. Okay, it’s a little bit of an oil sponge. But it is pretty tasty. The climbing wattle has a nice like kind of green taste to it. I think the last dish is the banana blossom salad, or mix. Mmm. Oh that’s really good, it’s really really juicy. (speaking foreign language) (laughs) – It almost has a cheesy taste to it. (upbeat music) (laughs) Okay, we just made it back to the hotel.

Definitely the highlight for me today though, was that Muslim Yunnanese beef salad that aunty made. That was one of the dishes that I’ll never forget, ever. I wanna say a big thank you to Lucy, she was our guide today and she brought us everywhere. And also to Frank from Zouba Tours for organizing everything, he set everything up. Hotel Comfort Bamboo Sheets Review – Is Bamboo the Material for You?

Sarah: Hey guys, it’s Sarah from Sleepopolis. Today I’ll be reviewing the Luxury Bamboo Sheet set from Hotel Comfort. I’m going to tell you a little bit about what I like, what I don’t like, and for whom these will be especially beneficial. Let’s get started. Sarah: Now that we got the sheets on the bed, let’s talk about what they’re made of. These sheets are made from 100 percent natural bamboo fibers, which have a reputation of making very, very soft material. There are several types of bamboo. This happens to be bamboo viscose, which is regarded as one of the softest types of bamboo.

Many sleepers have compared the feel to silk or cashmere, for example. Each set contains one top sheet, one fitted sheet, and two pillow cases. This set that I’m testing is a queen size set, but if you do order a king size set, it comes with king size pillow cases. You’ll notice on most bamboo bedding products, there’s no thread count indicated. The general rule of thumb is, 1,000 thread count of cotton is equivalent to 250 thread count of bamboo.

Bamboo is definitely the softer material. Now that we know what these sheets are made of, let’s see how they feel, and how well they stay on the mattress. Sarah: As promised, the feel of these sheets is incredibly soft. Really just — silky, light, airy, breathable material. I can feel how it drapes over my body. I can’t stop rubbing the material. I just think it feels so soothing and silky on my skin.

The pillow cases are pretty large. Like I said, this is a queen set that I’m testing. You would, of course, get king size pillow cases with a king size set. These are accommodating a pretty large pillow right now, and they’ve still got a little bit of room to spare. The opening has this nice flap of fabric, so that you don’t actually see inside of the pillow case, a nice aesthetic value there. A common complaint that sleepers have about sheets is that the fitted sheet becomes untucked throughout the night. Maybe they toss and turn, and wake to find that the sheet has become untucked. I can tell you after rolling around quite a bit in these sheets, that has not happened. All four corners are still snugly tucked under the mattress.

Overall, these sheets have a great feel. Like I said, the most important thing to me is how they feel on my body, and to me these are incredibly soothing, comfortable, soft sheets. For folks who are looking for something silky, light, and breathable, these are a great option. The prices of these sheets range from 249 to 450, but if a hypoallergenic sheet set will improve your quality of life, it might be worth it. There are a lot of things to like about this sheet set. To name a few, the natural properties of bamboo are to be sweat wicking and cooling, so if you heat up during the night, these will be beneficial for you. Another great thing about bamboo is it’s naturally hypoallergenic, so if you have allergies, sensitive skin, these are especially beneficial for you. Something great about Hotel Comfort is they let you try these sheets for 100 days before you have to make any decisions.

That’s a long time for even the most indecisive sleeper. My favorite thing about these sheets is just how incredibly soft they are. They feel amazing on my skin, and at the end of the day, that’s the most important factor for me. There are a few cons to this sheet set. Firstly, the color I received does not exactly match the color represented on the website. It’s not a huge deal, but if you’re picking something other than white, it’s something to bear in mind for sure. Another thing about these sheets is they wrinkle and crease easily. Unfortunately, you cannot iron them, or it would ruin the material. If you want to get the wrinkles out without having to go through the entire wash process, just throw them in the dryer on a low setting, and shake the wrinkles out. One other thing about these sheets is while they’re lovely, light, and breathable, they’re very light, and really not intended to keep you warm.

While they might be perfect for summer time, I would definitely switch to something heavier when the winter rolls around. Well, that’s it for now. Eli and Elm Sheets Review – Should You Buy Bamboo or Cotton Bedding?

Sarah Riccio: Hey, guys. It’s Sarah from Sleepopolis. Let me guess. You’re interested in Eli & Elm sheets. Well, you’ve come to the right place because today, we’re going to dive into all three bedding collections that Eli & Elm has to offer. Stay tuned. We’re looking at the Cool Sheet Set from Eli & Elm’s Whitney Collection, the Bamboo Sheet Set from the Wharf Collection, and the Organic Cotton Sheet Set from the Ferry Collection. I want to start with the Cool Sheet Set because, frankly, I’m a very hot sleeper. I really can’t resist a cooling set of sheets. Now, when I first unboxed this sheet set, my first reaction was, “Wow, they’re not kidding. These sheets are very cool to the touch.” More than just breathable, they felt like they had been refrigerated.

We’ll get into a little bit more about why they feel so cool in a second, but let me tell you, rubbing my hands all over the material, they feel icy crisp to the touch. Let’s get into more details about why they feel so cool and find out if they actually stay that cool after they’ve been washed. The Cool Sheet Set is sateen woven into a 400 thread count and made from a blend of long staple cotton, lyocell, and phase change material. The cotton is giving me this soft, breathable feel that many of us have become familiar with. The fact that it’s long-staple cotton is adding some strong durability to the fabric as well. What about those other two ingredients? Lyocell is a cellulosic fiber made from dissolving wood pulp that usually goes by its name brand Tencel.

It’s frequently featured in the world of bedding also in clothing. It’s known for being super soft, resistant to wrinkles, and naturally moisture-wicking. That ability to wick moisture is going to help the sheet set stay cool and help you stay fresh and dry throughout the night. Meanwhile, the phase change material is what takes the cooling properties of the sheet set to the next level. I do dive into deeper detail about what exactly goes into the process of making phase change material. Basically, phase change material also known as PCM is woven into the fabric. It’s what’s giving it that icy crisp, notably cool-to-the-touch feel. Because it’s woven into the fabric, it’s meant to stay cool no matter how many times you wash it. That said, I have put the sheet set through the wash and dry cycle. While it’s not as icy cool as when I first unboxed it, I’m pretty impressed at how cool it still is. Again, it’s worth noting that both these sateen sheen that comes with the sheet set and the cooling properties of the PCM are going to diminish a little bit over time and after you run them through the wash.

Each sheet set comes with one top sheet, two pillowcases, and one fitted sheet capable of accommodating mattresses up to 15 inches deep. There’s a lot that I’m loving about these sheets. I think that sleepers who run hot are going to be particularly compatible with them. Thanks to the phase change material, they do feel so cool and soothing against my skin. Like I said, I’m a year-round hot sleeper. I could definitely see myself getting year-round use with this sheet set. Another thing that I think is unique about the sheet set is its blending of percale and sateen traits. What I mean by that is percale sheets are known for being crisp and cool and matte in appearance, whereas sateen sheets are known for being very silky and lustrous. The sheets has a little of all of that going on because they are sateen-woven. You are getting this very pretty light luster and a silky smooth feel, but the phase change material is giving it a crisp feel as well. Like I said, the feel is unique.

I don’t think I’ve felt a sheet set that feels exactly like this one before. The other thing is the Tencel is working to keep you fresh and dry. You got the PCM that’s working to keep you cool. The moisture-wicking ability of the Tencel is keeping you fresh and dry, so definitely recommending this to sleepers who run hot. All that said, there are a few things to consider before you commit to buying the sheet set. First of all, while it does feel very cool to the touch, it’s worth noting that that cool crispness does diminish a little bit after you wash it. Same thing with that lustrous sateen sheen. Again, this is a common thing in my experience particularly with sateen sheets. That luster does diminish a little bit after you wash them. It’s worth noting that these sheets are not going to stay as icy cold as they did when you first unbox them forever. Another thing about this sheet set is it certainly not the least expensive sheets that are on the block, ranging from about $279 to $300 depending on the size set that you get.

The fact of the matter is these sheets are not going to be in everyone’s budget. These are a little out of your price range. That’s something to consider. Lastly, this sheet set does only come in white. If you’re looking for a wide range of playful color options, this might not be the right one for you. Sarah: Next up is the Organic Cotton Sheet Set. Right away, even before I took it out of the packaging, I could tell that this sheet set is going to offer the most classically cotton feel.

It’s very super soft and breathable and this cozy, familiar cotton feeling. It’s not got that crisp cotton feel. It’s more smooth. As a sateen lover, I’m pretty fond of that. Another thing I’m noticing is that while it is breathable, it does feel almost like a little bit warm and cozy. I’m almost getting the sense that while I know these are going to be less cool because they don’t have phase change material like we just saw in the Cool Sheet Set, almost getting the sense that these might lie a little bit heavier on the body. Let’s take a closer look at what these sheets feel like and what exactly they’re made of. As you might have guessed these sheets are made from 100 percent organic cotton. The cotton used in this sheet set is long staple cotton. That’s the way to go because the longer the cotton fibers, also known as cotton staples, the more durable the sheet set is going to be.

In addition to better durability, you’re getting better color retention, better resistance to pilling. Again, it’s a best-case scenario. The longer the fiber, the better the sheet set. These sheets feature a sateen weave, which is giving it more of a silky smooth hand feel as opposed to a crisp cotton hand feel. Folks who are less into that starkly crisp feel and more into that smooth hand feel might be particularly compatible with this. One thing that a sateen weave does lend itself to is more vulnerability to wrinkles. Unfortunately, I’ve noticed that’s the case. Now, I have already run these sheets through the wash and dry cycle.

In my experience, it is best to pull it out of the dry cycle as soon as it’s done so that you’re spreading these sheets out over the mattress when they’re still warm and wrinkle-free. That will serve to keep some of the wrinkles at bay. However, you can, if you hate wrinkles, iron these sheets on a low setting. That will completely eliminate the wrinkles, but worth noting that these sheets are a little wrinkly. Each sheet set comes with one top sheet, two pillowcases, and one fitted sheet capable of fitting mattresses up to 15 inches deep. There’s a lot that I’m liking about this sheet set. First of all, not only is the cotton certified organic, but it’s also a product of Fair Trade manufacturing, which basically means that the folks who harvest those cotton must be paid a living wage. If both ethically sourced and eco-friendly sheets is an important factor for you, you might want to consider these. Another thing is the long staples, like I said, are giving the cotton some great durability, but the sateen weave is really giving you this nice, silky smooth hand feel.

If you’re more into a smooth feel as opposed to a crisp one, this might be right up your alley. Another thing that the sateen weave gives is the pretty light luster. I will say that it diminishes a little bit over time, especially the more you wash it. The more you wash it, it also gets softer. If you’re into that silky smooth feel along with that light luster, you might want to give this a try. All that said, there are a few things to consider about the sheet set before you commit to buying it.

The sateen weave is giving it more of a silky smooth feel and less of a crisp feel. If you’re into that like crisp cotton hotel bed feel, then these might not be for you. They’re not very crisp. Like I said, very smooth. Another thing is as I suspected, they do lie heavier on the body. They’re a little bit less breathable. That’s generally the case with sateen-woven sheets. Sateen-woven sheets tend to be less breathable than percale sheets.

They are going to keep you a little more warm and cozy and a little less cool. Sarah: Last but not least is my personal favorite, the Bamboo Sheet Set from The Wharf Collection. You can probably already guessed that the sheet set is made from bamboo. When I first unboxed it, first thing I think is, “Oh, this is why I love bamboo-based bedding.” It’s silky. It’s light. It’s lustrous. It feels so soft and soothing on your skin. Like I said, we know it’s made from bamboo, but let’s talk a little bit more about the specific advantages that come from bamboo-based bedding. These sheets are made from 100 percent viscose from bamboo and woven into a light and breathable 300 thread count. Bamboo-based bedding does come with some really unique wonderful advantages. First of all, it’s got this natural luster, this silky feel. Also, bamboo-based bedding is notorious for its strong durability, antimicrobial properties. Eco-friendly sleepers might like to know that bamboo is a sustainably sourced material.

There’s a little bit of that sleep green factor at play there. Also, bamboo bedding is naturally moisture-wicking. In addition to this light, breezy feel, you’re also getting this moisture-wicking property that’s going to help stave off those night sweats. Comparatively, the Cool Sheet Set does have that PCM so it feels cooler to the touch, but these are also going to be a great pick for hot sleepers because they’re light, breathable, breezy, and they feel so silky and cool on your skin. This sheet set, like the others, does come with one top sheet, two pillowcases, and one fitted sheet capable of accommodating mattresses up to 15 inches deep.

There’s a lot that I’m loving. This is my personal favorite sheet set. Let’s talk about who’s going to be most compatible. First of all, this is a great eco-friendly bedding option. Bamboo is a sustainably sourced material. Bamboo bedding is also naturally hypoallergenic. If you’re looking to sleep green, if you’ve got sensitive skin, this is not a bad idea. Another thing is this bedding offers this very silky feel, this really beautiful luster that drapes over your body and the mattress in this shape-silhouetting way that my opinion improves the aesthetic of the whole bedroom. Another thing is bamboo-based bedding, because it does come with these wonderful unique-to-bamboo advantages, often comes with a higher price tag. In my opinion, these sheets are a great value ranging from about $120 to $150.

They’re not the least expensive bamboo-based betting that I’ve ever tested, but they’re certainly not the most expensive. They’re about middle of the road but, in my opinion, a great value for what you’re getting. Not to mention, you do have 45 days to test this bedding before you commit. A few things to consider about these sheets before you commit to buying them. First of all, that silky feel is also contributing to a little bit of a slippery feel. Folks who like that crisp feel, these might not necessarily be up your alley. Also, the pillowcases do a little bit of slipping and sliding on the sheets because they are very silky. It’s something to keep in mind.

Another thing is bamboo bedding does have a reputation for being very wrinkly. I will say that when I first unboxed these sheets, they were riddled with wrinkles, but I’m pleased to say that after I washed and dried them, not only do they feel softer, but the wrinkles shook out nicely. Now, if you really hate wrinkles, you can iron these on a low setting. If you want to know more about the specific care instructions for this bedding, I do dive into all that detail in my full written review, which is linked below. Sarah: Well, that’s it for me, but for every last detail in all three of these sheet sets, be sure to check out my full written review, which is linked below. Purple: The Latest Technology in Comfort & Sleep

The mattress industry has a serious problem. The problem is the mattress. And there’s nothing quite like mattress shopping. Didn’t even feel me slide in there did you? What? That’s the memory foam! Now let’s talk about what it’ll take to get you in one of these! Wow! Comfy, and the craziest part is that you pay a premium for that kind of sales experience. But hey! For that price hopefully you can finally sleep comfortably. Nope. Same old mattress technology same old back pain. But you know what? We are scientists and professional sleepers, and we knew of a better way to sleep comfy without having to pawn the dog.

And that’s why we invented Purple. The world’s first ever Hyper-Elastic Polymer mattress. If it sounds a little sciencey, that’s because it is. The only real innovation in mattress tech since 1926, when foam mattresses were cool. Great-grandma Sue was such a hipster. Purple is incredibly comfortable and is different than any other mattress you’ve tried. Let’s take a moment to look at how purple compares to other mattresses out there. Memory foam is not fun for jumping. It allows your body to sink in, then keep sinking, until you’re stuck, and hot, and sweaty. Spring mattresses are fun for jumping, but all those Springs want to do is spring up where you need them to sink down, causing you to sleep as comfortably as pinball.

Purple — though not great for jumping, is perfect for sleeping. Purple is soft and firm at the same time, depending on what area of your body it’s touching. And Purple will never ever leave a body impression in your mattress. Why? Because we’re scientists and we made it that way. We design Purple how you would custom design your best friend. You know — if you could do that. Purple will take the pressure so you don’t have to, and it’s there to support you when and where you need it the most. That means body alignment. When Purple feels the pressure, like under your hips and shoulders it, releases so you can sleep comfy. Giving you the support you crave, and aligning your body so you don’t have to keep your chiropractor on retainer anymore. And Purple is temperature neutral and allows for plenty of airflow, so no more sweaty nights. As the avid sleepers that we are, we know that it takes your body a little time to adjust to a new mattress.

And that’s why we offer a risk-free-why-not-try-it-100-night-guarantee. And on the off chance you don’t like it, no worries. We’ll pick it up from your house free of charge. And you’ll get a whole refund. Purple is the culmination of 26 years of research and development. We’ve been doing this for a while, and our technology has been licensed to brands like, Nike, and, Dr.

Scholl’s. So yeah we do know what we’re doing, and here’s something to chew on: Purple is made in the USA from completely non-toxic, food-grade material that’s right. Food grade but we like sleeping on it better than eating it. And in purple we sell direct to the consumer which means no middleman markups and no markups just for marking up sake. We believe that everyone should be able to afford the world’s best mattress. You’re welcome. Now maybe you think your mattresses all right. Well the purple mattress topper turns all right Comfort into all night comfort and your butt might be saying “Hey, I want it on some of that sweet purple comfort too!” Hey we hear your butt loud and clear.

That’s why we also invented the purple seat cushion. Use it at work, in your car. Wherever that extra comfort is needed. And how well does it work? Well… that well. The seat cushion will be sent right after our campaign funds. So you don’t have to wait to experience Purple’s life changing comfort. Purple. No pressure .

Concierge Collection Rayon from Bamboo Sheet Set

Geoff cowan with clearance on bedding I want to make sure it’s very clear i know the phone lines are busy and thank you for your patience if you hang in there i hope the size is still available there in that topper everything still comes with our 30 day money back guarantee everything because what we’re about to offer you right now is unprecedented right in the way of getting your bed made perfectly every single time now when we were coming out of break and i was like you don’t believe me how soft is i said i believe these are Wow right wow it’s almost like silk it is this bamboo right though bamboo yes $49.95 now not I’d be bad I had two conversations going on my producers in May is saying that he’d bought these for a wedding gift at full price so they were just short of a hundred dollars at full price and worth every penny of that today so if you’re already ordering the top up maybe ordering the pillows that we also offered you grab the sheet set because right now as it stands at the beginning of this presentation we have all sizes and all colors color wise we have the blue we have the ivory we have lilac and we have white now there’s a question how what are your white sheets right now white are your white sheets and be smart like Doug if you have a wedding coming up and you want to give the gifts oh my god absolutely feel amazing these really i’m not exaggerating no they really are amazing and you know i have been here a long time and i can tell you i don’t see bamboo sheets very often it is very rare that we get bamboo and a lot of people only sleep on bamboo once you have a set of bamboo sheets it is a little bit addictive and you can understand why absolutely once you feel these and maybe you never felt them clearance under fifty dollars any size you owe it to yourself to get these home and try it and you know if you go to hsn.com and read the reviews first of all I think you can kind of visually see what I’m talking about the drape is unbelievable the sheen do you see how that beautiful Sheen and the coolness to these now I know right now it cold outside but what bamboo is known for is it silky hand it is natural so it is very breathable it is moisture wicking and it is naturally antimicrobial so it is just a great fabric treatment and if you are a hot sleeper you will love bamboo and what a lot of you have said is it has a soft silkiness of microfiber but it is natural you know what I think I’m not kidding you I’m watching these presentation looking anything why did I buy this before we start the show when I came out of josh levi sandy box i get these for myself now can I ask dog on a personal note white and Queen do we have plenty of those satellite seriously because this is one thing for sure I’m talking from personal experience when I talk about I’ve got a whole 150 remaining white queen leave me one set because I would be i was talking from personal experiences saying you know the white sheets that we have right now are as wide as they once were right it’s just one of those things with wear and tear now you have got a chance right now we’ve got all colors all sizes available in this amazing bamboo hyper allergenic smooth silky smooth I promise you I did not touch these until this presentation started because I wouldn’t experience it with you guys to get this set flat fitted to pillowcases for fifty dollars it now I will also point out this is more limited than what we had with the topper so know that we had just under 1,500 we got about just under 12 hundred of these remaining across the board in all colors all sizes but obviously as we go through the presentation we will definitely lose colors inside well this is what is fun about clearance is you can really upgrade you know you can get sheets that are you know easily at our price is a hundred dollars and you know in the marketplace you can spend much more than that and you can get an entire set for under fifty dollars and I was just reading reviews this has almost all our perfect 1080 11 are perfect five stars and these are people that purchase these sheets probably at $99 got them home laundered them slept on them took the time to write a review and I really love the color palette to I mean when you’re going to do sheets like this that are very special because bamboo is a lot of people love it because it is one of those sustainable resources I mean I used to live next door to my neighbors head bamboo and you can visibly see it grow from in the during the day you know what I mean it is one of those replenishable resources so we love it for that but it really is these feel like the most expensive sheets it is hard to even describe it in terms of thread count I mean it it is so so key it has such a coolness to it and you can see I don’t know how close you can get but you even notice when you look at it is a twill weave so it has a little bit of a different we’ve to it I mean you can see that it has that incredible finish this is one of those that you want to get it home you want to put it on the bed and experience it and I mean things are so important I was going to say not an important but almost some of the most intimate you know yes linens and clothing because you think about clothing even thing about a towel they’re only are momentarily even clothing you may have on for six seven eight ER but with with bedding your entire bodies in contact with worse for hours and four years and four years in most cases so for less than fifty dollars the flex pay on here I think we’ve got 2 flexpays here at 2498 grab it now another thing we’ve been offering is 0 HSN card no you if you do not have HSN card charge card we’re taking ten dollars off your first purchase now there’s no annual fees and all sorts of VIP services with the HSN card including additional flexpays on beauty on fashion on jewelry every single day the year but if you’ve never quite gone ahead and grab an HSN card will take another ten dollars off this price so this is what I say in the very beginning the quality is still there the beauty is still there at the moment sizes and colors are still there but and the 30 day money-back guarantee means that you can get it at home and sleep on it if this does not make you sigh and be welcomed in your room in your bedroom when you get in into your bed packaged up return it back to us within the 30 days and we’ll refund to the purchase price you know that’s such a great thing especially was betting you know I would say a lot of you probably have never tried bamboo because it really isn’t readily available it is one of those fabrications normally specialty catalogs high-end catalogs will offer bamboo maybe you can find it online but to be able to have it to bring it home to wash it to sleep on it to really test it out I wanted you to see this maybe just picked up that great mattress topper I know we have a featherbed coming up this has that deep pocket 18 inch accommodation the elastic goes all the way around so it is a great fitting sheet but I want you to see this even when I undid the corner here do you see the drape of this fabric it has a little bit of weight enos to it but yet it is still very very light it is very silky and cool but not slick you notice that absolutely it is again and I say this because I think of all the great features of bamboo and there is a lot what resonates I think with most people is the fact that it is natural it is breathable and it is great if you’re a hot sleeper let’s look at features you know this is one hundred percent rayon from bamboo it is naturally silky and so uncomfortable it is lightweight it is durable but at the same time it is very moisture wicking and that is important if you’re that hot sleeper you owe it to yourself differently to try a sheet that is really built for that if it describes your own personal summers right right right $49.95 8 for the last twenty four dollars and 98 scenes down at the moment we have sizes and colors across the ball but some are very very limited indeed and remember you saved me at least one set of the queen in white if you wouldn’t mind so much for 60 1799 is out of it

Thank you so much for watching and I’ll see you in the next one. .

Can Your Mattress Protector Stand up to Sasquatch?

Did you know that the wrong mattress protector can ruin the feel of your mattress? Hi! I’m a mom, one of the hardest jobs out there. This is Junior. Junior is a sweetheart but he can wreak havoc on our mattresses. Which is why I got the Purple Mattress Protector. Nobody likes sleeping on a plastic bag. Other protectors turn your bed crinkly or stiff and they make your mattress noisy, hot, and uncomfortable. Like a Nickelback concert or the first year my marriage. A mattress protector that ruins the feel of your mattress makes about as much sense as my husband’s conspiracy theories. The Purple Protector is stretchy, so it lets your bed do what it was designed to do. The Purple Protector enhances your Purple bed or any bed. It’s soft and flexible, so it doesn’t take away from the supporting power of your mattress. It cradles your pressure points when you lay down. Instead of making your making your mattress hard and uncomfortable. Like watching Transformers 4 through the window of an RV. And the stretchiness means it’s super durable which is nice because Junior has vivid night tears about deforestation.

With other protectors I always felt like I was choosing between comfort and protection. I shouldn’t have to make that choice. I need to protect my mattresses. They’re a big investment, especially on my husband’s salary. With Purple, I don’t have to choose. It’s stretching which means comfy and it protects my mattresses. Which is a huge relief! And as any parent knows, the most important part of a mattress protector is protecting against stains and moisture. My little guys pretty good when he’s awake but night time is a toss-up and that’s okay. Accidents happen. No more mystery stains on your nice mattress. The Purple Protector is waterproof and water absorbent, which will keep your mattress dry and clean. It protects the top andsides of your mattress, so no matter what spills or leaks out of your family members, you’ll know your mattress and your warranty are safe.

It’s stain resistant, so I can just throw the protector in the wash and it’s good as new! I wish I could do that to my husband It’s hypoallergenic and non-toxic and it’s resistant to dust mites which can be a problem in the forest. It’s cool and breathable, which means no more waking up sweaty and damp like a Wookie’s armpit. I even have one on my bed. It’s so comfy I can forget it’s even there. So if Junior gets scared and joins me in bed, I can rest easy knowing my mattress is protected. It even comes with its own 10-year warranty.

What a sweetie. Being a mom can be so fulfilling and the Purple Protector gives me one less thing to worry about. If you or your little monster sleep, click now to protect your mattress. Order your stretchy, soft, waterproof, stain-resistant Purple Protector today. You better believe it’s real. .

How to Knit a Dragonflies Baby Blanket – PART 1 – Introduction

Let’s knit this gorgeous baby blanket featuring delicate dragonflies and hearts. I’ll show you exactly how! I’m going to show you step-by-step exactly how to make this sweet treasure of a baby blanket. By the end of this video you’ll know exactly what skill level this project requires, the yarn and supplies you need to complete it, how to make beautiful sample swatches, where to purchase the pattern, and free bonus- how to make a blanket out of the sample swatches! This is an advanced easy project using the thread lace technique.

It’s easy because if you know how to cast on, knit and purl stockinette plus bind off, that’s the total physical skill level necessary. The challenge becomes working with two yarns held together, one a sport weight, the other a fingering yarn working most stitches holding both yarns together and knitting only the fingering yarn where designated. This is what creates the delicate lacy look.

This is a 30 inch long blanket and that means a lot of stitches on the needles and dozens of rows. It also means learning to read foll graphs as well as written instructions to make it successfully. This tutorial demonstrating exactly how to knit the dragonfly and hearts swatches sets you up perfectly to master the actual blanket. Plus, as promised, we’ll talk about alternatively simply making several small swatches and just crocheting them together in patchwork to make any size blanket you desire. Now if you’re more interested in making a baby blanket with butterflies or angels, click the i in the upper right hand corner or click the link in the description below, and machine knitters catch the link in the description below to all these same patterns adapted to the Brother bulky knitting machine. Okay, on to our dragonflies project! For supplies, you’re going to need Loops & Threads Snuggly-Wuggly baby sport yarn or Lion Brand Pound of Love is great too. You’ll need Tamm Estilo cone fingering yarn, scissors, and size H or 5 millimeter crochet hook.

You can get all of these items at your local craft store except the cone yarn or online, and I’ve placed links in the description below for how to get that cone yarn. Now the cone yarn costs a bit, however, it would make at least five of these blankets and probably more, so that it ends up costing you no more per blanket really than the baby sport costs. So think about sharing the cone yarn with your knitting group and the bunch of you could get cracking on these thread lace blankets and have a wonderful time knitting for a cause. Now that you know the supplies list, want to make something faster than a blanket with these dragonflies? Make a dog sweater or baby sweater instead and you can find the links to those patterns in both hand- and machine-knitting in the description below. Hey knitters! Floor Moisture Barrier – When Do I Need It?

On a concrete subfloor, if your product has pad attached already, you still need a Moisture Barrier, a painter’s plastic, a Visqueen plastic, a product similar to that. It’s a very, very thin 6 mil. product. We sell a product that comes in rolls of 150 feet. That’s all you MUST have when you’re on a concrete subfloor, and your product has pad attached. Now you could also purchase our 2mm foam that has a moisture barrier attached. That will give you 2 milimeters more foam, obviously. That gives you more comfort when you walk, and gives it a more quiet walk. So either way, you either have to have plastic, or a foam with a plastic. When your product has no pad attached, and you are installing over a concrete subfloor, you must have the pad, and you must have the moisture barrier. If you’re going over concrete, and you have no pad attached, this is the bare minimum of what you must have.

If you have pad attached to your laminate, this plastic film is your bare minimum, and that is sold separately, or you can upgrade to this product. Like I said, a little bit more comfort when you walk, a little bit more sound killing, and a little bit warmer. Your options for laminate are without pad, or with pad. And then depending on your subfloor, that’s the key element here, determines what else you may or may not need, whether you just need a plastic, whether you need a foam with a plastic, or the sound killing felt with a plastic.

that’s on the bed that rich sage green which is like a spa we’ve got a beautiful gold a lilac the Pearl and the slate gray I know a lot of us love to decorate with grace we have that as well the sizes are full queen king and california king and the exciting thing is is no matter what size bed you have everybody pays the same thing today which is under twenty dollars our special guest is Karen LeBlanc is absolutely amazing she’s a decorator and design journalist and really all of your home decor tips hi miss you good to see you too so I am super excited about the damask print sheet set from Highgate Manor I wanted to bring you something that’s traditional but a fresh current interpretation so we’ve taken this timeless motif the damask pattern which you’ve seen a lot of woven jacquards we’ve translated it into a print put it on this comfy cozy sheet set in this nice serene on trend color palette and what we’ve done if you look closely at the top sheet you’ll see this beautiful large-scale damask print again that timeless motif it’s a tonal design so we’re looking at aqua so you’re looking at almost like a beautiful on the light aqua base and a darker turquoise tunnel print and we have of course the top sheet with a four-inch helm and I want to show you the hem here on the top sheet because it has this beautiful plate finish this really nice high-end designer detail and then look at the pillowcases these are so beautiful they can function on top of bed is an actual pillow sham because they’re just so stylish and again you have that 4 inch finished edge you have the nice pleated him and if you flip it over you’ll see that this beautiful damask tunnel print is both front and back all the way around now we paired it on the bed with pearls so we have the sheet set and pearl is just lovely this is so summer and spring fresh there aqua and pearl combination and the color palette itself I’m super thrilled about because we’ve done this in a nice soft restful serene color palette so again we have these we have the sage sage which is almost like a moss again with this tunnel demas different we have the platinum which is you can see the darker almost great exactly that tonal so it just still very soothing and again the gold and we have lilac yes very so just the right dose of color for something very serene and restful for the bed exactly well we already have an update even though these are brand-new we are already losing sizes in the California king so if that’s the size bed that you have definitely be in the ordering process if you want to make over your bedroom with this beautiful design Highgate Manor is all about refined luxury and that’s what this sheet set really embodies the job via Slee the the design is absolute pure elegance and so beautiful but the 500 thread count cotton blend this is actually a weightier sheet so you can feel the luxury you can feel the quality there’s nothing flimsy about this gorgeous absolutely the hand again just is so soft and feathery soft to the hand and that is because we’ve taken the best that cotton has to offer and we’ve blended it with just the right dose of microfiber so what we have is this amazing sheet that performs its wrinkle resistant it holds its color and it’s going to be resistant to shrinking and pilling and we’ve done that by taking cotton and mixing it with the microfiber so this is sixty percent cotton forty percent microfiber again the best of both worlds is created with this with the sheet set and so soft to the hand the yarns are brushed I have to point that out because that really does affect your sleep experience it’s very soothing to the touch and it’s mercerized which means it’s treated for that low maintenance high performance fabric exactly I was showing everybody the gold because I just think that this is pure elegance I think it is yeah it’s very rich it’s very luxe maybe if you’ve got the Burgundy’s in your room maybe you’ve got the Grays in your room I mean so much is going to go back with this or if you want to take the Aqua if you’re somebody that almost always doubles up on your your set of sheets because you like to get four pillowcases go for maybe the Aqua and the gold and switch out the top sheet fitted sheet because look at how absolutely beautiful springtime elegance this looks I love to mix colors I absolutely do I think that sheets these are show off sheets these are sheets that are part of your decor just like you dress your favorite outfit and you accessorize with your jewelry earrings think of your sheets as the ultimate accessory when you dress your bed so mixing and matching pattern in color right here i’m holding the lilac and the platinum i think this is just a gorgeous color combination but you can get really bold there’s a no-rules approach to pairing your colors you could do a lilac and sage you have so there’s just so many ways that you can play with these sheets and kind of create your own personal signature look and when we talk about creating our own signature look I think it’s really important to always be grounded in something traditional but updated with something fresh so traditional being this beautiful damask print this timeless motif damask has been around since the Middle Ages it was a woven technique that you know dates back to the Silk Road but what we’ve done is we’ve modernized it in this fresh current color palette the gold the pearl the Aqua the platinum the lilac and the sage all very popular colors right now in home interior yes and because this is such a gorgeous print if you look at this bed it looks absolutely stunning and stylish without a comforter without a dube but imagine like draping a maybe a white crisp white duvet right and holding it back to reveal this beautiful aqua isn’t that just such a sharp look it really is and you look at the sheet set and you think you would see this rich luxe design we have the break I want to lay back with the gold but you look at this and you think okay normally you would see a comforter with this beautiful design this is your sheets this is taking luxury to the next level and like you’re saying if you want like that crisp white duvet or if you’re somebody that loves to mix the patterns and which is you know so big right now if you look through all of the design magazines you’re mixing stripes in with your damage you’re missing making different prints and patterns into our home decor this is a great way to do that or again if you want to just get multiple sets and mix the colors together here is that slate gray back without beautiful gold does this not look like a million-dollar it really does this whole BTR looks that act or a lot of show homes as part of my job as a design gentleman and the damask is obviously a timeless popular decor element and these colors you’re seeing right now so this we have I have the lilac and the Pearl and again very serene but fashion-forward the lilac purple in all its hues super hot color right now in home decor so again if you really want to bring kind of update and refresh the look of your bed think of sheets I think we tend to take for granted the design power of a good sheet collection and they’re so fun to play with because you know back in the old days you have your standard white which everybody use because well they reason you can bleach them but we have so many great design choices at Highgate Manor that you really can discover your own design voice by playing around with different colors and patterns of your sheets and showing these sheets off as part of the way you dress your bed again lutely stunning you really are it it’s elegant it’s instantly elevating the look of your bedroom it is refreshing your bedroom for spring which we loved you know pre-event our home decor for a new season this is ten dollars off today it’s brand-new you’re the first one seeing it we’re launching it in our show today so enjoy the ten dollar savings and no matter what size bed you have and i am talking full queen king and california king and i mentioned we are becoming very limited on the california king so if you want that one please be in the ordering process but if you want that and california king be in the ordering process everybody pays the exact same thing though no matter what size bed you Phyllis so I have to just gush about the pearl doesn’t this almost look like have a beautiful almost lace effect Lynn tonal damask print doesn’t just kind of come across this is almost beautiful bridal lazy look their story depending on the color way I think that the damask sheet set really takes on different carry all right Karen thank you so much for being a part of our shiny anytime it was so fun always a pleasure having you here we’ll stay How to Dye Fabric: Rit All-Purpose Dye

With rit all-purpose Dye you can dye fabrics containing natural fibers like Cotton linen wool or silk and also Rayon and Nylon I’m going to dye samples of a bunch of different fabrics and see what happens. Pre-Wash the fabric to remove any finishes, so the dye will absorb better. Use enough water so the fabric can move around freely The hotter the water the better, so use really hot tap water or heat the water until it’s almost boiling. From here you can use the stove top method where you keep the dye bath on a low simmer throughout which will get the darkest richest colors or you can dye in a container or a stainless steel sink. I’m dyeing the samples in two batches because some of the fabric like salt added and some likes vinegar instead.

Shake the Dye well and add it to the water. as a general guideline for every pound of fabric use half a bottle of liquid dye or one package of powdered dye in three gallons of water To get dark or saturated colors double the amount of dye. I’m using half a cup and each to get a very saturated purple Add salt to the dye bath for Cotton linen and Rayon fabrics or add vinegar for silk wool and Nylon fabrics I’m adding about half a cup of each, but add more for larger projects Stir well Put the wet fabric in the dye bath. In the salt dye bath, I’m putting in bleached and unbleached Muslin 100% Cotton broadcloth and two different poly cotton blends Natural canvas Cotton Jersey Scrim Chintz Irish Linen Rayon Challis Natural burlap white Sultana Burlap and Polyester Gabardine In the Vinegar Dye bath, I’m putting in silk Chiffon silk Organza silk habutae silk Shantung 100% wool felt Rayon Wool Blend felt coated Nylon Oxford fabric Nylon stretch lace Nylon Crystal Organza and Nylon Glitz Sequins Stir continuously for anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour Take it out sooner for lighter colors or leave it in longer for Darker colors Make sure the dye is getting to all parts of the fabric.

So it won’t be splotchy here’s a couple tips for Dyeing: Wear gloves whenever handling the Dye and cover any surfaces that need protection before starting Dryclean only and fabrics that can’t withstand heat shouldn’t be dyed, but if you want to try test out a small piece first Keep in mind that most clothing is made of polyester thread which won’t die with rit all-purpose die Dyeing white fabrics has the best results you can dye other colors, but the original color may affect the outcome You can use rich color remover first to get rid of as much color as possible Remove the fabric from the dye bath when it reaches your desired color keep in mind Fabric looks Darker when wet We suggest using Rit Colorstay fixative before rinsing to increase color retention and reduce bleeding For small projects you can spray the fixative directly on the fabric until saturated or for larger items mix it in a water bath According to the instructions on the bottle.

Let it sit for 20 minutes Rinse the Fabric with warm water, then cooler water until it runs clear And finally hand wash or machine wash with warm water and air dry or tumble dry with an old towel. .

How To Build A Wooden Desk Lamp | DIY Project

Today I’m going to show you how to make this gorgeous looking wooden desk lamp using simple hand tools. For material I used two solid wood boards, one board 3 centimeters wide and thick, and another board 1 centimeter wide and thick. To create the lampshade, I used a piece of paper and the linen fabric. I also need a light bulb, a socket, and a cord. So, let’s get started! First, I marked all those dimensions needed for the lamp base. Then I cut the board using a handsaw. You can find the exact dimensions down in the video description.

Next, I’m sanding the edges of the pieces that I’ve cut to make them even, so it would be easier to work with the glue. To get the desired shape, I glued all the pieces of the wood together using a wood glue, a square ruler, and some clamps. You need a lot of patience, because you can’t glue all at once, but it’s definitely worth the time. Before gluing the last piece of wood I marked the center point of the lampshade and drilled a hole for the cord 4.5 centimeters deep using 6 millimeter bit. I extended the hole from the backside of the same piece of wood at a 45 degree angle, so it would be much easier for the cord to pass through. Then I glued up this last piece of the lamp base. Now let’s move on to the lampshade frame.

I marked the dimensions of the second board. I made a cuboid frame 20 centimeters high and 15 centimeters wide. So, I cut four pieces 12 centimeters long and eight pieces 13 centimeters long. The last and most important piece of wood is the frame support with size 5 by 13 centimeters. I used a 30 millimeter bit to countersink a hole 1 centimeter deep. then I used six millimeter bit to drill a hole all the way through, so that it perfectly matched the center of the base. The next step is building the cuboid frame. I glued all the pieces together and used square ruler along with the clamps to make a perfect right angle. To make everything nice and level, I’m going to hit with 120 grit sandpaper which should make a quick work of all the unevenness. then I finished it off with a spray paint. I painted both the base and the frame with the chocolate brown spray paint, because I wanted to create more contrast between them and the lampshade. I applied two coats of spray paint and left it to dry out.

After that, I moved on to making the lampshade. I used a paper roll and cut 62 by 21 centimeters of it. I also cut the linen fabric 63 by 23 centimeters, so that I could easily glue it to the paper, and fold the edges to get nice and smooth look. It took me some time until I finished gluing the fabric to the paper, because I wanted to make sure everything was lined up. I decided to use a wood glue and it actually turned out quite well. The glue wasn’t drying too fast, so I had some time to adjust the fabric to the paper with a ruler. I glued up the lampshade to the frame. It is very important to do this carefully, one side at a time, because you need to align the edges of the frame with the edges of the shade. I folded the fabric on the top of the frame to get the desired look, but you can skip this step simply by cutting the paper 20 centimeters wide at the beginning now. I can finally put all the pieces together. I’m mixing up some 5 min epoxy to stick the socket. I made sure everything was lined up, and then used wood glue to stick the lampshade to the base.

I held it with finger pressure for only a few minutes until the glue started to harden. I suggest you use LED light bulb, because it produces a very small insignificant amount of heat. This is the final result, and I ended up really liking it. Saatva Dreams Lofton Sheets Review – Is Organic Cotton Bedding Worth It?

Sarah: Hey, guys. It’s Sarah from Sleepopolis, and if you’ve been wondering what the Lofton Organic Sheet Set by Saatva Dreams is all about, I’m here to answer your questions. Stay tuned, because I’m going to show you what Saatva sheets feel like, what they’re made of, and which sleepers might love them the most. Sarah: I have to admit that the Saatva Lofton Organic Sheet Set is the sheet set that I have on my bed at home right now, but I have them in grey. When I first unboxed them, my first impressions were that they were lightly lustrous, silky soft, and I could tell they were going to do a good job of keeping hot sleepers cool. I’m a hot sleeper, so that’s definitely a bonus. Not to mention, as the name suggests, they are organic, and I’m always interested to see how organic bedding compares to bedding that’s not organic. I’m sure you’re interested, too.

So, let’s take a closer examination of these sheets. These sheets are woven from 100 percent long-staple organic cotton into a 300-thread count, and they feature a sateen weave. What all this means is the long-staple cotton is making these sheets feel really soft and really durable. Something that’s important to know is that the longer the fiber, also known as staple, the more durable and soft the cotton sheets are going to be.

The sateen weave is giving these sheets a light luster and a feel that’s more silky as opposed to crisp. Again, it’s worth noting that percale sheets are going to be more crisp and matte in appearance, and sateen sheets like these are going to be a little more shiny and more silky in feel. The folks at Saatva these sheets are organic all the way. So not only are these sheets 100 percent certified organic, but the farmers who harvest this cotton, also must be paid a living wage. If eco-friendly, ethically sourced bedding is a priority for you, you might be particularly compatible with Saatva’s sheets. Now, each sheet set comes with one top sheet, one fitted sheet capable of accommodating mattresses up to 15 inches deep. I am actually on the Saatva mattress right now and as you can see, it fits it like a glove, almost like they were made for each other, and two pillow cases.

This is the Saatva pillow, so you can get a good look at what that fit looks like. It doesn’t have those envelope closures, so there is this opening on the side. There’s a little bit of pillow spillage. It’s not my preference. I do like those envelope closures, but as you can see, this is the standard/queen size here and it’s a pretty nice fit. Another thing worth noting is that the sheet set has already been through the wash and dry cycle, which, by the way, if you want to know more about the specific care instructions I do dive into all that detail in my full written review, which is linked below.

It’s worth noting that when sateen woven sheets do get put through the wash and dry cycle, do lose a little bit of that luster. That sateen sheen will diminish a little bit, which has happened with these sheets. They’re still lightly lustrous, but not as lustrous as when they first came out of the packaging. However, they do feel softer after being washed and dried.

So, not at all in like a light worn-in way, more like a garment wash-soft kind of feel. I’m really loving that. Without further ado, let’s find out who is going to be most compatible with these sheets. There’s a lot to love about this sheet set. First of all, if you’re into more of a silky-smooth feel as opposed to that crisp feel that you get from cotton percale, this might be the sheet set for you. Between the very durable long staple cotton and the really silky sateen weave, you’re really just getting this very smooth hand-feel that sateen lovers are probably going to particularly enjoy. Speaking of a sateen weave, sateen woven sheets do have a reputation for laying heavier on the body, being less breathable and therefore less beneficial for hot sleepers. Luckily, that is not the case with this sheet set. In fact, this sheet set might be the most light and breathable sateen sheet set I have ever tested.

If you prefer sateen, but you also need help keeping cool at night, would definitely give these a try. Lastly, while these are not the most lustrous sateen sheets I’ve ever tested, they still do offer this subtle sheen. If you’re really not into sheets that are very shiny and something a little more lightly lustrous, these might be right up your alley. There are some things about this sheet set that you might want to consider before you commit. First of all, like I said, if you’re into that crisp, cool hand-feel, just remember that these sheets are not at all crisp. They’re very smooth and silky, so if you’re a percale lover, if you love that crisp hotel bed-feel, you might want to look elsewhere. Another thing is, these sheets, like I said, are light and breathable and they’re going to do a great job of keeping you cool.

That said, they’re not going to do a great job of keeping you warm. If you’re looking for something more warm and cozy, again, you might want to try these first. Speaking of trying them first, you do have 45 days to try these sheets, see how they fit into your lifestyle. If you don’t love them, you can send them back for a refund. That said, the price is not exactly in everyone’s budget, ranging from about $125 to $215. The fact of the matter is, these might be out of some sleepers’ price range. Sarah: That wraps up this review. For every last detail on this sheet set, be sure to check out my full written review, which is linked below. By the way, this particular sheet set is featured in my roundup of the best sheets of 2019, so I definitely recommend you check that out if you’re on the hunt for a wide range of bedding options. All you got to do is Google “Sleepopolis best sheets of 2019” and it’ll pop right up.

Forget Thread Count: This Is How to Choose the Best Bed Sheets

Can we just like this for a while? I am going to exfoliate with this one. Oooh. You can’t even see me over the pillows I am so small. Now I am doing a visual test. Even before you touch it, it looks cheap, like, the edges are uninspired. I feel like if I slept on this, I’d wake up from the sound of my skin.

I really like this one. I don’t know how many more faces have been on it, and it’s kinda creeping me out. I don’t know why I’m still holding it, cradling it like a small child. But it feels soft like if I put on pretty pajamas, I may slide out of bed. I love sleeping. It’s like my favorite thing. Sleeping is my hobby. I’d sleep on all of them. Ummmmm maybe 600. I really think thread count’s fake. 200? 75? 10,000. From like 100 to, I don’t know, maybe, 1000. I don’t think I have ever bought a pillowcase just buy itself. I don’t know what kind of sick person would go shopping just for pillowcases. I know that I buy really high thread count sheets because I’m a princess. Pillows and cats is what I’m surrounded by at night. I don’t know how much things cost in real life.
